F31 KW coilover questions

I was wondering if anyone was running the KW V1, did they ever resolve that issue with the rear being too low, I know some people had to run the spring spacers, others received a longer spring from KW, was the kit ever revised? Thank you

andino has the V1s on his F31. You can see his pics here. The rear is decently low. There was definitely evidence of coil bind on his set.

Thanks but it looks like he purposely lowered it that much. I was wondering how much gap there would be at max height in the rear
because I heard it's not much but every source says something different.

I'm maxed out height wise in the rear. I'd need a spacer to get any more adjustments out of it. I considered raising the car more but I'm planning to go a different route with my suspension in the future so I'm leaving it as is for now until I pick up some new coilovers that better fit what I'm looking for. KW V1s are just too soft for me.

That photo has about 200lbs of gear in the trunk still. In actual use, it sits about 1/2" higher than what's shown there.

Are you saying that's max height in that photo? I could see how firmness matters at that height. But realistically I'm not trying to be slammed

Jesus what's up with finding something proper with this car.

Just installed ACS springs last week that has very bad reverse rake. To dropping an additional $1500 just to hear this shit. Getting real fucking old

If it’s a big deal, get a spacer for the rears from kw. They’re like 60 bucks. 1500 for v1s is overpaying. They’re around 1100 or something from forum sponsors iirc

i don't see that price anywhere, lowest i see is $1444 which is what I paid, + $60 spacers.

Also got the rebate going on now($150), and got a $100 ecs gift card for ordering during the kw special.

Hmm interesting. I was chatting with a forum sponsor early this year and it was about 1200 iirc. Unfortunately, I've cleared out my PM history due to running out of space so I don't have history that far back anymore :\

Cleaned up my car this afternoon and snapped a shot. This has just a couple tools in the trunk and is how my car sits most days of the week unless I'm going out backpacking or climbing and its loaded up with extra gear. Its still quite low if you're looking to stay close the same drop of AC springs. The fronts prob have another inch max to go up before your run into the bump stops hitting the top of the spring perches. I'd say you can prob go 3/4" higher without issues. Rears are maxed without spacers so you can gain a bit of height with spacers but the fit into the perches will be tight.

Yeah def getting spacers. Even if it's just to gain 1/4 more than that

With spacers, you'll gain more than a 1/4". You'll prob be able to get 3/4 of an inch but the front might have binding issues. I'm already having some spring bind and clap with my current setup. More tension up front will increase that I think. Not a huge fan of KW's decision to go with spring perch adjustments on the V1s rather than coilover body adjustments. My new set will be shock body adjustable for sure which is what I'm used to using in other applications.

KW V3s or Bilstein B16. I'm looking for a bit more adjustability now that I have a better feel for the car. Def overkill for daily driving but if you're planning to track, its a good balance.

b14s are good from what I hear but they're not in stock anywhere until june (that eta keeps slipping back) for xdrive. B14s are also the same spring perch height adjustments like the V1s

Yeah i mean spring perch adjustments aren't bad. Just can't go super slammed which I think is neither of our use cases.

Yeah I don't think there's going to be a way around that. For whatever reason, its not consistent if this issue presents itself on f31s. It seems like some have it and others don't. I'm just unlucky and I do have that knocking/binding issue with mine and I'm likely going to swap them out since they're not agreeing with my car.

Does it have to do with height? More preload?
