Talking Vroom/Carvana offers going up

It appears now is a really good time to sell your relatively new Bimmer to Vroom or Carvana if you’d rather not sell it yourself. I bought my CPO 2018 340i M Sport in April for $32,488. Today Vroom offered me $36,386 and Carvana offered $36,135. Last month Vroom offered $33,405. So, their latest offer is almost $3,000 more than just one month ago. Carvana offered $32,554. So, their latest offer is almost $3,600 more than one month ago.

Edmund’s put my private party value at $39,992 and KBB puts it at $41,154.

Who’d have ever thought a used Bimmer would be an appreciating asset. Crazy times.

Those are great offer but if your buying new or used you will also pay more so unless you have a 2nd car to drive around go ahead sell your car.

Very true. That’s really what is interesting to me, how much more buyers are having to pay for the same car six months later. I’m pretty sure I paid an inflated price compared to the beginning of the year.

I'm in that situation where we have a brand new X3 that my wife barely uses due to wfh. And then there's my 2012 328i. But I just like it too much to give it up. If I had more sense than money, I would sell it right now.

Exactly. Unless you already have a 2nd car, buying or selling in this market is a bad idea. Once again, this economy really only benefits the have's.

I gotta say, the price you paid for CPO was a hell of a price too. Granted, i don't know any of the packages it is equipped with but to get a 340i CPO for under 35 in this climate is insane.

IDK, Carvana only offered me $15,800 for my 340i xD 6-spd. I was honest and mentioned scratches...and it has 94k miles...but I don't think I'm getting the benefit of how scarce manuals for sale are.

This is the truth.

I seriously contemplated selling my 435 and use the proceeds towards two separate vehicles: something smaller/cheaper/more fun to drive and an inexpensive daily driver.

Sadly, with the inflated prices across the entire market has made it impossible.

Yea that seems very low.

They must not think their buyer pool will have much interest in the 6MT. Kind of interesting. I think these purely online dealers’ customer base is a fairly “low touch, low involvement” crowd. Not an enthusiast group. They just want a very easy, smooth transaction.

It has virtually every option except adaptive suspension and track handling pkg. That was the actual sale price before TTL.

Vroom offered $41.3k for my 440xi GC while Carvana offered $39.9k. I paid $41k 3 months ago. The car is essentially fully loading just missing track handling package & had only 8k miles.

Wow that's nice. I did look into 2017 330i@30k miles(new MSRP $44k) around April and that was $25k + TTL, but went with a 2021 330i instead for $37k.

That 2021 car only fetches $31k from carvana right now, so it is $5k less than your 2018 340i.

I was thinking the same thing. For the general buying public manuals are far less desirable and dealerships, regardless of who they are, often have a hard time selling them.

I think it will take time for the enthusiast market to drive up the price on our manuals...if it ever happens at all. A manual F3X doesn't seem to have the same attraction as Chevy SS manual or ATS/CTS-V manuals which drive a premium.

In my zip code a 2018 340i@30k miles with every option except THP and real spoiler gets $30.8k@carvana, so your local mkt is much stronger than around my locales.

Interesting. That’s a big difference. I guess at least partly because Cali is the land of the 3er and there’s probably more supply than in other markets. I was a little surprised by the amount of my offer considering this is xDrive country and my car is rwd.

They just offered me $26,000 for my RWD 2015 335i A8 with 53k miles. Back last year they offered me about $17k so that's a massive leap. I work from home and I don't really need to have a car right now so its tempting. I just don't see myself being able to get something comparable down the line as I have the M LSD installed and all prices are insane for anything good used.

I plugged in zip 60007 and tried on 2018 340i 30k miles loaded except THP and rear spoiler, and carvana offered only $32k. Maybe the carvana is smart enough to track IP address too.

Base-ish cars are in demand so a 328 will have a higher premium that a rare M340 or MT RW car. Enthusiasts will scoff. The non-enthusiast buyer wants a BMW that runs well.
