If there was an Audi in there he would have chose it lol. I can't take this guy's reviews seriously even though his comments on the ATS do reflect the comments of other journalists. His past reviews have been clearly biased...

ATS is one hell of a car. When the ATS-V comes... some buyers will have tough decisions to make.

Even though BMW would have given me $750 loyalty rebate and BMWCCA would give me another $500, I went the Cadillac ATS route. That says something.
That's a good price. I see why you turned to them.

I think the BMW has improved the comfort, performance, technology, fuel economy, and dependability. I think people at nit picking at this point saying the steering is vague and crap like that (try driving a prius).

I would throw up if I drove an M3 as a daily driver because of the harshness. To each his own.

Also, to all the people bashing the F30 obviously don't own F30s, and that's for a reason. Because "they" found a reason why "they", in particular, didn't like it.

This is the future match I'll be looking for. M4 vs ATS-V Coupe! I ride and drive Beemers and Bimmers, but I have a open mind. Time will tell who shall raid my piggy bank

Or, CLA45 AMG? Also, you hear about the old Stig driving an S5 as a DD?

+1

All magazine reviewers rave about the suspension and steering in the Caddy. I hope Munich is listening and makes some changes for the LCI.

The F30s shortcomings are not its engine is its suspension and steering.

The whole world and his wife knows that the BMW F30 Series is a superior product. I also have a Mercedes C Class 350 CDI Sport and its not a patch on an F30, any F30.

The UK is a pretty neutral country as far as car buying habits are concerned. BMW rules the roost here and for good reason.

The ATS might be a good car, in America for Americans and I will never know or want to know. I personally dislike it's looks and it would be suicide to purchase one of these as it's value would be less than a can of beans as it is driven out of the showroom. Additionally, the reviews of it in our magazines have been rather lukewarm.

Sorry.

Well I guess I'm just too old then cuz I think the suspension is just right for me. Can't do anything about the steering through cuz it's electric (saves gas). Have you ever had your power steering fluid leak? Not fun...

Generally speaking, an EDC equiped M3 in comfort mode is not as harsh as a Sport package E90/E92 335i. Not sure how this compares to an F3x.

I agree with the reviewer, the C does feel more in tune with the road than the F30 3 series. As for the ATS, I still need to test drive it.
The steering is fine. Actually, I'll have to pull up an article in a magazine I just read which reviewed both steering setups (electric vs hydraulic) in a 5 series and evaluated them from a SCIENTIFIC standpoint. Anyone else read it? I think it was C&D...

Also, "in tune with the road", do you mean teeth chattering ride quality? I frankly cannot stand the ride quality of the C and the pig it is in the corners.

Sorry, I need to clarify, comparing it to my friend E46. I hate it when he drives us into Downtown LA, it's pretty rough....

And the sport package E90 is too rough for me. I get sick easily in the car. F30 is much softer but I still believe it performs well. I need to go to that BMW performance driving school though.

Well compared to the E46 330i ZHP which probably had the best suspension in a 3 series ever, it's soft. It's no secret but BMW has been softening it cars ever since all the F models came out. The F10 is just horrible, numb steering and floating handling a la Lexus. The F30 is better but it seems in the past the difference between a non-sport equipped 3 and a sport pkg 3 was huge especially in the suspension dept. Nowadays its a very small difference don't get me wrong i still think the F30 is the best all around sport sedan but as a BMW owner since the early 1990's it's weird to feel that the previous BMW model feels better than its replacement. In the past BMW was know for it's steering and handling along for it's engines, now it's for it's engines and tech features like i-drive and BMW apps. I find that disturbing.

The purpose of automotive journalism is to sell magazines. Outrageous conclusions sell. Don't forget that.

Really .. I guess those earlier comments:

"Why the "come on really"? Pretty much every car magazine, website and professional reviewer out there thinks the ATS is a better driving car than the F30."

Which - BTW isn't true. Some have ranked ATS better, others 335 better.

My issue stems from the fact that the car tested wasn't tested against an M Sport w/ the M Sport Suspension + Variable Steering. The two things that knocked the 335 in this comparion are the two options that were not added to the car. Test the car w/ these options, and tell me whether it "looses".

Do I agree that the steering is "lighter". I would say, yes, it is lighter. Lighter also means less rough (which is again, not neccesarily a bad thing). I do feel that when you want to go "Sport".... the M Sport goes into a rigid mode that feels about as stiff as I would ever want it.

At the end of the day... each to their own. If I wanted an M3 feel, I would have bought an M3. I want a slightly more sporty sport sendan that I can live with. For me - the M Sport 335i won.

As for a Head Turner - see me at a red light ... and take a peek to the left car and the right car... you'd be surprised how many heads are cocked. I know this statement will attract some snarky comments... but in all honestly, there are few cars on the road that I would consider more attractive.

Can we please stop explaining the purchase of an ATS based on the increased size of the f30 and the e46 dimension benchmarks of the ATS.

Every time I read that I feel compelled to note that according to Cadillac the ATS is .3 inches longer than the f30. Negligibly larger than the f30 yes, but certainly no e46.

I can understand the purchase of the ATS over an f30 for many reasons; I can't understand why size would be one of them.
