Schwaben NT510 - B46/B48
So I bought a Schwaben NT510 for my F31 LCI with the B46 drivetrain, but it kind of sucks. It has never been able to detect the car's VIN, and the BMW-specific software has virtually *zero* functionality even after manually selecting the car's chassis code. I just confirmed that my scan tool has the latest software updates, btw.
I contacted Foxwell directly about a year ago and they promised a software update gaining full functionality would come out for the B-series engines within 4 months. As of December 2018 that.....hasn't happened. The generic OBD software functions perfectly, no issues there. Has anyone been able to utilize the BMW software built into the Schaben NT510 with their B-series engine? It would be great if someone else has had success and can offer advice. Cheers |

I’m currently having the same issue with mine in my N20 equipped F30. I purchased mine through ECS and it worked fine the first couple times I used it, including detecting the VIN. It now shows an error message of “no communicating” and no longer detects the VIN. I even updated the software, but no dice. I’ve emailed ECS; waiting to hear back. I’ll contact Foxwell next if they can’t resolve the issue.

I completely reset my NT510 this afternoon with fresh software and updates, but to no avail, so I'm going to submit another trouble ticket through the Foxwell program.

Did you buy yours through ECS? I bought mine from them back in July and they agreed to let me send it back for an exchange. Hopefully I just got a dud because the unit itself seems to be very good quality otherwise.

Yep I bought mine from them. Going to see what Foxwell says; if nothing meaningful comes out of it then I'll see about an exchange.

I have the Schwaben branded one too. Trying to use it to code the injectors on a '14 F12 (640i) with N55 engine. Sometimes detects the VIN but takes forever, sometimes not. Allows me to manually enter the VIN. Under "Service", "Drive", when I select Motor Electronics it says it's not supported on this vehicle.
Tried it on a '16 F80 (S55 engine) and same thing. Cannot detect the VIN and Motor Electronics service module says not supported. Software was updated to latest from Foxwell last night. Seems this handy little device doesn't work right with the later model BMW's... Sucks. |

Don't mess with the VIN, just go to the chassis designation.

Same here. I got a replacement from ECS but it didn't fix the problem.
