Hi I just got a pure blue 340i MPE in March. I came from an 11 S4. This is my first BMW and first time posting on a forum.

Curious how you feel it compares to your S4. I was looking for an S4 (always been a big fan) when I was in the market a couple months ago. Couldn't find one in my $ range and didn't have time to wait around. Not that I'm second guessing myself as I love my 335xi, but I sure wish it had some of the M options.

I really liked my S4. The smooth power of the supercharged V6 was pretty incredible and my initial plan was to wait for the 2018 S4 to come out. But instead of waiting I got impatient and started looking at the 3 series just to compare. I just happened to stumble across the 340 I have now at the dealership. I hate to admit it, but I had no idea at the time, what the salesman was talking about when he said it was the M Performance Edition. |

Went back and checked it out after it arrived a couple months later and was underwhelmed. The exterior just didn't have the aggressive look. Albeit it had an interior that was classic Audi perfection, that didn't sell me either. The interior on these MPE with the extended marino leather and carbon fiber is mint!

I really don't mind the ride on the 20 at the moment. Went from 18 winter to the 20s and it didn't change much, especially in comfort. The one big thing I notice is that if I hit a ledge or pothole in the pavement it's a noticeable clunk. As far as relatively smooth pavement, which isn't really that smooth in Alberta, I think it's completely acceptable for day to day.

As far as the 20's the roads around my area aren't the best. I hit a pothole so hard the other day the glove box opened. It was painful. |

If there is one regret I have about my order was that I should have ordered the nappa leather seats and dash instead of just Dakota leather

All of your pics helped me make my decision. The interior on these really is a step above the standard 340.

How so? You get more choices of Merino leather and the leather dash is optional with the standard 340i where you can only get black Merino with the performance edition, the only option you cannot get with a regular 340 is the carbon fiber trim. Is that what you think makes it a step above the regular 340?

So if you say your car's interior is nicer than what a lot of people have spec'd I'll certainly agree with you, simply because they didn't opt for it I looked at the performance edition, and the lack of adaptive led and no sideview cameras ruled it off the list, I also did not want black leather. I do a lot of driving in cottage country, and I have variable light distribution working now (via coding), which you need adaptive LED for.

As you can tell, I went for ZE40s (same whom makes the x2 more expensive HREs and BBS), and saved 26lbs vs 405M and 43lbs vs 361. Gained 0.3s (0-60 4s). Equivalent to 350- 500lbs less curb weight. Comfort. Finally. Wider, more planted. Better steering feel... Can tell why the M Performance has gone up 5k in price since 2014- they are charging the premium for engine tuneups and suspension. As if going with Dinan- but for the delta, one gets 385Hp.. |

No one in Canada has posted in here for a while, but I will bump it up.
Just picked up the 2018 model of this M Performance Edition at a nice discount (end of F30 model run). Mine is Sunset Orange, and I am very impressed so far (but only several days old). Came from a 2016 340i xDrive and I swear I can feel the difference. The MPE is quicker, and feels lighter. Very fun.
