iDrive rebooting when paired with iphone 6s
Hi
The iDrive on my 2013 F20 has suddenly taken to rebooting regularly. The only change has been that I have recently paired an iPhone 6s to it. The internet suggests one solution is to change the head unit. However there also a few suggestions that there might be an iphone problem. Sure enough If I remove this device and unpair it then the iDrive rebooting stops. This frequent rebooting did not happened when I had an iPhone SE paired to the car. Anyone got any suggestions (apart from not using the 6s)??? |

well I swapped my sim back into my iphone 5s and it has worked fine i.e. i can make phone calls remotely from the car and the idrive doesnot suddenly reboot and lose bluetooth pairing. They are both running ios 12.1.4 (16D57) so that seems weird.

From the fact that the SIM works in an older phone but not the new one, I'd start with your carrier's support department. Perhaps there is some incompatibility that simply swapping the SIM does not address.
Barring that, trying to pair another 6s with the same SIM might give insight, if you can find one. |

BMW were not surprised by my story and have suggested that I reboot the iDrive by pressing the volume button for 30 seconds until it reboots. Unfortunately it doesn't reboot using this method. An ideas???

Your free options are to do a bluetooth/media software update from BMW (https://www.bmw.com/en/footer/software-updates.html) and make sure you're on the latest version of iOS (12.1.4 is supported for the iPhone 6S).
