That's what I get for oil change

The day before thanksgiving, I took my car in for a low mileage oil change service which is only take couple hours to finish. SA was nice enough to provide me a loaner car to keep over the thanksgiving day. Called in on Friday to check the status since SA never called and the day was almost over. SA answered phone and told me my front bumper was torn off by the technical. I was like "WHAT!!??", What the hell is that mean, how could that happen? The answer is tech didn't pay attention when back off the car, and the front bumper was caught by the lift jack(the large kind). Here are couple pics I took when I got there.
Now my car is sitting at dealership waiting for new front bumper, lip and clear bra to be installed. It will be 1 more week before I can get my car back. So freaking unbelievable.

Sorry but dont worry.

You wont notice the difference.
Front bumper swap is super easy.

I took mine off and put it back myself....
No issues at all.

Great opportunity to request no holes drilled for front plate.. Go with magnetic plate holder

Kid made a mistake man, stuff happens. Not like they tried to dodge it or stick you with a bill.

It's a BMW dealership, man. What, you don't think they have experience at replacing a front bumper? They'll fix it like new.

Let's just hope YOU don't get the car into an accident on the way home from the shop; that's when you can be free to be mad as hell.

Well it sucks your baby got hurt by the dealership, I feel your pain (mostly from the Cadillac world) but at least they were up front with you about what happened and will get it fixed. I'm also hoping they comp you the oil change for the headache.

Comp'd oil change AND the old bumper back so you can resell it.

That bumper looks to be in pretty good shape yet. Someone might need it.

Unless there's other damage elsewhere, that could easily be reinstalled and you'd never know the difference. I'd have them put it back on and take the cash they would have spent on the replacement...

Anyway, I would never let my car at this shop again. Must not happen, even as accidential case.

Please look up the definition of "accident" and then explain how to eliminate them.

Things happen. Please consider that we all must deal with all sorts of things that occur. If this is the worst thing that's happened to you I think I'd say a prayer of thanks. On the spectrum of bad stuff this would hardly register with some truly horrible events.

Sadly, it's a new world. This line of thinking is the new norm. We have an entire generation that thinks every last thing can be controlled and every last risk mitigated.

Accidents do happen...what would bother me most is the dealership did not call back the OP to let him know this happened and what the status is. I think most of us are reasonable and willing to accept accidents, delays, etc but not getting informed of these kinds of things drives me nuts.

I left the oil filler cap off once when I did an oil change in my driveway. Didn't notice until oil started running down the driveway when I started the car up. Totally unforgivable even as an accident so I never let myself do another oil change.

Anyway joking aside, stuff happens. The only thing I'd be concerned about is whether or not the repair is reported on the carfax if the car is owned and not leased.

In the overall scheme of things this is totally insignificant. I guarantee you will have incidents in your life that will make this appear to be child's play. Time to grow up.

I dont think this comment was particularly necessary. What is wrong with being annoyed/frustrated/angry at the dealership for damaging something that is quite expensive? I agree that in the grand scheme of things it is minor and will get fixed but there is nothing wrong with reacting in the heat of the moment.

I'd be pissed as hell as well. Yes it can be fix, yes accidents happen, but car guys/girls LOVE their cars. To take it in for service and to have the bumper torn off would really get me as well. At least they owned up to it, but I'd still be angry.

They will most likely keep the OP's original bumper as a core charge. Yes, this does suck but at least the dealership owned up to this. At least you have a loaner to whip around and you aren't taking a bus. Now when you get a survey in your email, how would you rate them? You know the SA will ask to give him/her all 10's. Perfect time to ask for any other freebies.

tell them you want to keep the old bumper, you can probably get 2-300 from someone who can fix those tabs. At least the dealer didnt try to fix it without telling you...or maybe thats why they never called you lol

If I pay my money into a shop and more if its a dealer and after then I see my car damaged like yours, that leads me to two concrete facts:

1: The mechanic hasnt take enough care with my car and/or doesnt know his work well enough
2: The shop obviously values paying customers not enough to have the guts to call the customer and tell him what happend.

Accidents and mistakes are human, and if I do something stupid at my car during mods or reps, well, thats my own shit I have to deal with.
But as long as I deliver it to a shop or a dealer, I expect excellent skills and workmanship. If they cant do this, they wont never see me again and surely no other ones who asked for some adequate shops.

I have high expectations and consider that Bimmers' claim the call for premium (in Germany) is out, then such "accidents" are not state of the art, no?
