Similar story for me. I was casually looking nation-wide at M2's and 240's with only a passing interest in F30's and F32's since I was finding NOTHING with the options I wanted. Since I didn't want AWD, the closest cars were 800 ~1000+ miles away. Even then, most would be a serious compromise on options, let alone color.

One evening an add popped up in the middle of the my Autotrader search for 235/240's for the car I know own. Not only was it manual, but RWD, but it also had my "must have" packages, plus a couple of other good ones thrown in. I was shocked when I noticed the add was for a dealership about 30 miles away.

The rest is history

I hope this helps...I know it's a little sketchy seeming, but it was very simple in bimmercode.

Hope I included enough for you...if not, search around here...there are a few threads...but all I did was reverse two SPA settings.
Alright thanks I wish there was more clear instructions though

I pieced it together from what I had because I wanted it so bad!

Bimmercode

I think the FEM

Cluster/advanced/that three letter acronym I vaguely recall seeing

Reverse the two SPA settings from their current aktiv or 'nicht aktiv.'

Someone in one of the threads tried it...he might have documented better...or maybe you will?

Glad I did it...hated being told I was in the wrong gear all the time!

I will try it. But I thought it still suggests what gear to go to except it shows the gear you're in. Right? Or it only shows the gear you're in?

Yes, it still suggest the gear to go into, but it also shows the gear you're in first...in a larger font. Makes me feel partially 'right' from the car's point of view.

Count me in. Mostly manuals for my 40 years of driving.

PS. get the short shifter from Turner Motorsports. You will not regret it.

How hard is the install?
Edit: looked up the SS kits on Turner, looks like the Turner branded one is for F30s/F32s up to 2015 (pre-LCI) and doesn't include the 340i, while the UUC one is for F30s from 2012+ including 340i. Is is safe to assume that if it fits an F30 335i or F32 435i then it will fit the 340i as well? I thought the drivetrain stayed the same through the LCI

2018 340i, 6MT RWD. I knew this was the last year to get one fresh off a lease, so I did it. Still haven't seen another one--and if I do I dead-ass might buy that, too.

I didn't know how to do it. First of all you meant instrument cluster correct? Then enter expert mode. Then enter the third module down called FZG. Then they are three SPA settings. One was enabled and the other two were disabled. U said that there's one called SPA_IST_ENABLE, but it's not there. I'll attach a screenshot of the spa settings I have maybe you'll remember which of the three to make aktiv and which to make nicht_aktiv. Please help as whenever I played with the settings the whole shift point indicator went away.

You reverse those two. If aktiv, make it nicht aktive, and vice versa.

They are three SPA settings. I'll attach a screenshot. Which ones to make aktiv and not aktiv? Could you possibly check?

SPA
SPA IST

I didn't touch 'kombi select'

When you get past these, you'll see that each one 'labeled' enable, will be either aktiv or not. Just reverse those two.

You're very close...let me know it worked...and if you could document where you're at better than me, others would appreciate it. I'm sorry...I was so eager to fix this babysitter, I didn't write down the steps.

Anyone else noticing a lot of 6MT 335/340i's for sale recently in the classifieds or is it just me?

As requested--I've doublechecked what I did to get the gear you're in to show (as well as the suggested gear)--see pic above.

Using bimmercode:

Instrument Cluster/expert mode/

FZG_Ausstattung

SPA_enable : nicht aktiv
SPA_ist__gang_enable: aktiv
SPA_Kombiselect_DISABLE: Nicht aktiv

Montana based '17 440x drive with a MT -- a unicorn. Estoril, M-sport, track handling pkg, and literally every other option. Found it in Oregon as a lease return CPO with only 22K miles

In case any of you three pedal people were wondering, a short shifter can be installed without removing the exhaust or lowering the transmission. Requires lots of patience though. Feels great, needs more effort to shift and you get more feedback through there shifter. Mine is centered but the knob is a bit canted to the left, doesn't bother me much. Keeping it at stock height for now. Double posting here for relevance
