My M4 is coming up to 3 years next month - and so my free connected drive will end.

The only thing i really use is the send destination to car, check car status etc.

If i dont renew will i still be able to do all that? or is that part of the subscription? the website is not at all clear - and i dont care about traffic and map updates etc.

I've just checked mine. I'm out of the 3 years. When I go on the app, it looks like the destination has sent, but doesn't log in my car.

So fear it won't work for you. Back to the old way of inputting destinations!!!

I have Apple CarPlay installed and I just Google map the location on my phone and it instantly brings it up on the idrive if you have it installed. I find it better than BMW Nav - even if it doesn't work with head-up display

I have Carplay too - but i like having the nav on my HUD instead of the centre screen.

Wait for Black Friday and renew at a discount. That's what I did but now I have CarPlay I think I'll let it lapse this year.

If you want keep using the built-in navigation, ConnectedDrive is a must imo. It's not just about being able to remotely send the destination, but also the online traffic information (RTTI), and additional online information. Without it, the nav is dumb, while online is actually really good - combining various data sources to show the traffic in order to optimize the route.

I went without for a couple of months, waiting for Black Friday - but I am tight!

I have a 2018 320i and mine recently expired in April this year that is the map updates, online content, RTTI etc.. so the basic packages I had was the Connected Drive, Remote Services plus all the main subscriptions all with the expiry date of April except the first 2 which are lifetime booked.

Now what I noticed is that previously I renewed Connected Drive+ not to be confused with Connected Drive Plus which is a different subscription package…anyway Connected Drive+ was £25 per year and enabled the sending of destinations to the car amongst other things…this has now been absorbed into Remote Services which has been expanded to include sending destinations to the car and I can still see the car status.
