Thanks! I'll check out some of the things that you mentioned. Good stuff! Mike sells the NGK's. Please let me know how they work out for you.

Bootmod3 recommends the NGK 97506's gapped to 0.02". I cant offer anything more than a link.

My NGK 97506’s just lasted 4k miles. Crazy misfires on the dyno today. 2014 335xi, 411awhp/502awtq @ 18psi, FBO, 93 and meth. I had to pull the plugs on the dyno, re-gap them (they moved to .025 from 0.20) down to .018. Helped for a few more pulls but misfires came right back.

Do I stick with the 97506’s?

I've been running the NGK 97506 gapped to .030 on my FBO MHD stage2+ tuned 435i for about 7k miles now and have not ran into any problems. Max boost is about 16psi tho, and I've been running mostly full 100 octane fuel so not sure if that has anything to do with it.

The stock S55 engine plugs by NGK are the NGK 97506 which is supposed to be 1-step colder than stock in the N55 engine. I've seen them for about $17 each. I haven't seen a Bosch part number for the plug used in the stock S55 engine.
The ones at the dealer are not NGK, but Bosch ZMR5TPP330.

Thanks for the Bosch part number. I could have worded more clearly. NGK plug is NGK's replacement for standard Bosch plug installed by BMW at factory.

My car has 59k miles. Files rough also. I never thought sparks may be an under lying issue. If I plan to flash tune would sticking with the bmw oem be fine or should I do what others are saying and gap them?

I think it depends on the aggressiveness of the tune. I would ask whoever is doing your flash what their recommendation is.

Have read many spark plug threads over the years. Unless you're pulling over 18psi, stock plugs are 100% fine. Actually they seem to be fine until you hit 21psi and higher. New sparks and maybe wires too just for the heck of it due to your mileage... while you're in there you may as well do the wires. JMHO

Good point! Just for the miliahe I will deff do the spark plugs, stock does seem fine. When I do the flash tune I'll double check with the company and see what they recommend. I don't think my psi will be that high. I plan on just doing stages 2 tune and keeping it there. Just a fun daily. I appreciate the responses!!

FYI- an experienced BMW dealer technician told me never to try to lessen the gap on the stock Bosch plugs. He said that they are fragile and easily broken. That's why you see people using the NGK plugs which are Laser Iridium and can be gapped down more easily without breaking them.

The general consensus that I have received seems to be to use an NGK5992 (discontinued) or NGK95770 (its replacement). These are considered to be the same heat range as the stock Bosch plug. But people with tunes added to their car usually gap them down to 0.022"

Rule of thumb that I was told in tuned cars is to replace Bosch plugs every 20K-30K miles. NGK plugs should be replaced every 15K-20K miles. With 60K miles on your car I would think that you would want to replace the coil packs at the same time. I've seen heavier duty coil packs advertised but haven't researched them on the forum so not sure if they would apply.
Hope this helps.

It's been posted to death but count me in favour of the 97506's as well. I am bootmod3 stage 2 and sometimes run E30, car is smooth as hell and timing looks solid. I have better timing and fewer knock events (very rare now) than I did on stock plugs with same configuration (FBO)

I'm curious what kind of horsepower you think you are getting with your mods and the BootMod3 Stage2 tune along with the NGK 97506 1-step colder plugs?

Won't claim to know. You can find dyno graphs on here though for PWG FBO with bootmod3 stg2. Numbers are around 350-370 HP and 450+ ft-lbs of torque. On E30 I'm guessing it's a good 15 hp added, the car pulls pretty damn hard, so much so I had to use the boost limiter in 4th and 5th as the clutch starts to slip.

I ran the NGK 97506 for about 20k miles and recently the car was idling a bit rough and didn't seem to pull as hard (I should have logged) so I swapped them out for new stock BMW plugs (P/N 12120037582 that had been given to me by the dealer. plug 1 measured 0.027" gap, 2-3 measured 0.028" gap and 4-6 0.027" out of the box. I torque them to 18 ft-lbs. Below is my log. I'm running bm3 stage 2 93 octane OTS tune version 6.1. Loog looks super clean and timing is good. Timing advances to 10 degrees in the upper RPM range. I may get into the low teens with an E30 mix running the E30 map. I'll mix some E85 in the next fill up and see how that logs. Log below.

That's pretty cool. Thanks for posting. Curious to see your next log. Not surprising to hear that you started seeing some idle issues at 20k miles. That matches what I was told about the NGK's lifespan in a tuned car being about 15k-20k miles.

any thoughts on these? I typically shy away from too good to be true scenarios, and shipping from China/HK/Taiwan doesn't make me feel any better. 1/2 price is tempting, anyone gone in on something like this?

Personally, I probably wouldn't. Even if there's a chance that they're knockoffs, it's not worth the relatively small savings. Plugs are fairly cheap, I'd go with a reputable source for anything I stick in my engine.
