I have absolutely no problem with paying $2K. At the end of the day, the cost to manufacturer would be almost the same as a Stage 2 turbo, just a little quicker machining. My want for a turbo like this is not to save money vs a Stage 2, it's just to have the turbo sized for my needs.

With turbine upgraded and turbine housing machined to fit, it would just be a stage 2 turbo. There are many stage two turbos out there already, and some of them are actually not as big as many suppose.

To "make a smaller stage 2" that is also cost competitive, turbine need to be upgraded without being enlarged, so there is no matching required on turbine housing. Can change the turbine blade number/pitch/type, trading a little spool for less backpressure and thus more top end power. If new turbine and compressor pairs well, this upgrade essentially qualifies for a stage 1.5.

It’s coming very very soon and is in the works. Claims of 450 to 600whp are not unheard of for these offerings that are coming.

Similar stuff is coming out for the f80 M3s as well which will rid them of their turbofolds.
Got any links to these upgraded manifolds?

No the stock turbine dimensions are tiny and all current stage 2 offerings are monsters in comparison. There is a big gap in between that needs to be filled. Those turbine changes you mention while keeping to tiny stock dimensions are not as good as enlarging the wheel. I literally said in the post you quoted that it is not about price.

It's not about you caring the cost or not, it's the vendor. They need to make it cost competitive, so it sells.

With your mindset, this so called smaller stage 2 will never happen.

From Jeff@Speedtech , N55 OEM cutaway.

Stock OEM is double walled and air gapped.

Speedtech page doesn't say what kind of flange is used.
Also the aftermarket manifold sitting next to the oem for comparison seems to use a vband flange? Is that speed tech as well? Or who?

Manifold from Speedtech is much better

Note view of Speedtech from the top and the quantity of air that can be moved vs Vargas.

Are you referring to this one they now call the GC (game changer)?

http://performance.vargasturbo.com/e...&product_id=31

If so, can you or Vargas chime in, as to the difference between the "new GC turbo" and the Stage 2 DBB that VTTO used to offer since 2016 but seemingly discontinued?

If not, what exactly is the great contender that's coming?

Hybrid + DBB + New-Casting-Turbofold never shine or even exists with N55 platform because of the cost, apparently. But it's really the BEST route in my opinion.

Stage 2 price is cost competitive. People choose their turbo sizing based on their requirements. Smaller does not always mean cheaper. A lot of people understand this.

They have been molasses slow to respond unfortunately bro. Guess they have their reasons why they respond several days to weeks later. However while being patient let us see what their competitive price will be for their pwg kit that will either make or break this product they have coming out vs the competition.
