Bimmercode for indicator deactivation

Hi there,

I've recently purchased an OBDII adapter and the bimmercode app. Everything's working great so far.

Something that I would love to code is the steering wheel turn degree for deactivating the indicators. I notice that my indicators turn off too early due to a small curve or changing lanes before I actually make the intended turn needing the indicators.

So would anyone know the code to make the indicators turn off only after around 90 degrees or more turn on the steering wheel?

Thanks

That what it is programed right now...changing lane don't deactivate indicator only when you do a full turn left or right does it deactivate....so what do you mean by your question?

You might look in the coding section of this forum, although I don't think this is possible.

I don't think it's possible either. Are you aware of the dual operation of the switch? For lane changes or whenever you don't want it to blink until after a turn is completed push the level only half way, for just three flashes.

tap signal for lane change: defaults to 3, but can change up to 5 via Bimmercode.
full signal for turn: It cancels out <45 degree wheel turn and I don't think there's an option to change.

Hi everyone, thanks for the replies. Yes i'm fully aware of the tap function to blink 3 times. This is probably hard to describe but, my turn signals basically switches back off after only a slight turn in the steering wheel.

Let's say I'm approaching an intersection on the right most lane wanting to turn right, then im required to switch to the turning lane. Before switching to the turning lane, I do a hard tap for the right turn signal and switch lanes. However, the turn signal already switches off before I actually make the actual turn. So it's pretty annoying always having to do a hard tap twice.

So back to my original question, any way to program so that there's more room to turn the steering wheel before it turns off the turn signal?
p.s I have the crappy bmw indicator stalk that stays in off position instead of holding either up or down. (My friend's 2017 m4 has the normal stalk where it holds just like any other car)

There are no entries in the BMW coding database for doing this. IME the turn signal cancellation is just fine as it is. My main complaint with previous cars is that they wouldn't cancel it as easily as they should have, leaving the blinker on long after you made your turn, branding you as a clueless old fart to other drivers.

Okay I guess I'll just have to settle with it Thanks! I still think Bmw has the worst turn signal stalk design

It's not worse, just different. It doesn't stay in place in the 'turn' position because it's not a mechanical switch, like the light switch on a wall or lamp. It's an electronic switch. In theory electronic switches last longer than mechanical.

I have the bimmercode app but where exactly does one find where you can change from 3 clicks to 5 clicks for the turn signal? Thanks in advance

If your car has had a recent software update then this may no longer work, on my 2015 f30 the option to change the number of flashes is no longer there.

Ahh ok gotcha...thank you. Any chance someone out there knows how to get around this? Revert back to the old software perhaps?

Easy solution: Soft tap to get into the turning lane then hard tap to turn right. I believe the hard tap de-activation is mechanical and cannot be coded. I'm just happy that our cars don't have BMW's non clicking turn signal stalk.
