Drove around a lot today, no flutter. The blowoff is sometimes a bit quieter which I assume is good because that should mean more boost if being held.

- Injen muffler
- Injen intake
- ER charge pipe intercooler to intake manifold

Don't be surprised if you don't get it either. I rarely get mine while stopped anymore. I think when I first installed (when the video was taken), spring was still nice and new, so I got it without being under load. Now that she's more broken in, I can get it to come out while under load.

Ah, that makes sense. I'm hoping someone with just an upgraded FMIC and no tune (or vice versa) who installed the DV+ can test this.

I could flash stock and test to see if I still get it, but can't do a stock FMIC test. Regardless, no harm and I enjoy the noise. I really only can hear it with the windows down and even moreso when going through the canyons.
You’re moving a lot more air with a larger turbo, plus there is more volume in the FMIC which also means more air to release.

Oh, I know. That's why I said typically it's brought on by a bigger turbo and/or an upgraded FMIC. I'm also curious to see if having it tuned (let's say on guys who have stock turbo and IC) can bring it on by controlling the solenoid.

We may find out soon. That will likely be me after I find time to install this.

I'll be getting a bigger FMIC within 3/4 months so I'll see how it is then.

I have an upgraded FMIC and no tune. Not hearing a lot, if any flutter. Have not had a chance to stand at engine bay and listen while someone else manipulates throttle (yet). Either way, it's pretty quiet and unnoticeable.

Yeah. Best way for me to elicit it is under load. If you roll down the windows and are going through a parking lot or something, you'll hear it. Normally have to be high gear, low RPM so that it's low boost, but you can do it low gear if you throttle for a second and let off.

If you don't get it, I'd assume the tune at that point?

If you’re not getting it, that’s not a bad thing.

Definitely not. Either one is fine, but I am curious has to what brings it on with these cars. Part of me wants to say it's the tune since a stock DME is going to want to vent all boost anyway. So you probably could get it with just tune+DV+ on this car.

Doesn’t the spring halfway override that since it keeps more tension on the piston to keep it closed? At least on the stock tune.

It stiffens it but I'm not sure if the car can just override that completely. It makes it tougher to open for sure. Hmm. Let me get the correct answer for that.

I’m thinking it sends a voltage range on how much to open the DV. If it sends a certain signal to open it, let’s say 70% but the spring is stiffer, it may only open it 55%. I’m not sure though. Since it’s electronic, it’s very different from a standard bov that works off springs and vacuum.

Yeah, you are correct in that part. So with my fluttering, I'm going to assume that it's staying pretty damn close to shut or shut all the way on that low PSI liftoff. I think with the tune, the amount of boost and throttle tables you can control likely contributes as well.

Got mine installed now...no flutter at all...i can definitely tell the difference though. the car continuously keeps pulling through the shifts. Graphs are showing minimal boost loss during shifts. But im running bm3 with stage 2 93 agg tune, ER CP/TiC/catless DP, VSFR 7" stepped intercooler, GFB DV+(now), JB4 stage 2 running map 3 for meth control, BMS Meth kit.

Still need to get exhaust on there and then ill be happy for now. I am very much pleased with the feel of the car now with the GFB DV+ in there.

oh and a side note...on the 2016 model the original DV is held on by 3 - T-30 screws instead of the hex/allen heads. It was never mentioned before but the bolts that hold the EWG on were also T-40, didnt know if it had hex/allen on older models of the f30.

Hmm. Try doing a high gear, low RPM lift off. As in rolling at 20-30mph in 4th, pressing 50% for a second or two and lifting off. Just to ensure it's low boost. Makes me want to buy another for testing this lol. That or wait for my buddy to get his in.

i tried different variations of gears and throttle at low rpms last night on my way home and on the way to work this morning. Still absolutely no flutter.

so finally got it to flutter. i found 20-25mph in 3rd gear and i have to smash the gas and lift off immediately before the cars starts to speed up at all. Just enough to start a good spool and let off the throttle before it starts to surge quickly. But thats the only time i can get it to flutter and its just a low level flutter.

Exactly. I used to get it in Park, but it went away after breaking it in. Now it's just 2nd or 3rd gear.
