Does anyone have a decent insurance company they use that will allow these mods?
Performance direct seemed to be clueless and didn't get back to me. Thanks :-) |

On the drive through France they were silky smooth, on the terrible country roads where I am in Spain they make journeys with the family more bearable - and journeys without them so much fun!! They really are so sticky and will be standard fit on my cars to come.

I understand your dilemma - I was planning to replace them when I got back but with the rears on 3mm and ~3,000 miles I thought they'd be too low come the end.
I'm so glad I took the plunge though, they've made the trip more comfortable.

Would be worth you taking a trip to Lorcan's place for the day. Much cheaper there.

Just out of interest my son had Mountune springs fitted to his Fiesta ST yesterday at Ford dealer in York. Labour cost £99.99 including VAT. |

If you follow BMW's replacement instructions these include removing the drive shaft and some "one time" use bolts, but this is not necessary if you follow the ACS instructions which come with the springs as the drive shaft can be worked around in position.
I'll give Lee a call and make sure he is following the correct instructions. |

Insurance Update.
After a lot of hassle and some surprising responses to my F30 335d with ACS mods I finally managed to get insurance. Most companies wouldn't even touch me despite my age and history, NCD etc. Those that did were over £1200! You can guess my response to that! I had a couple over the £800 mark but they wanted high category Tracker fitted which started from £800 with a yearly subscription fee on top! So that wasn't going to happen either. I was seriously regretting getting the ACS upgrades and declaring them, particularly the engine mod. I just couldn't get a sensible insurance quote. Please check out your insurance and decide how you are going to go about your insurance. Particularly if you get the engine upgrades if you get my drift. That was the real killer. I tried Performance Direct but to be honest they weren't much good either......right until I spoke to David Goodman. Then all that changed. When eventually I got hold of David he provided great service and efficiency along with by far the best quote which I accepted. No one else came near it. No Tracker required either! David Goodman at Performance Direct should be your first port of call. T: 01708 436838 m. 07500 702749 Last edited by Aldur; 08-17-2014 at 08:44 AM.. |

I would be interested to know what the final quote was, and what your best quote was before the ACS upgrades, if you don't mind?

I expected a premium of a couple of hundred with the mods. With the mods it was between £600 and £700 including excess insurance ( You can claim back a chunk of your excess on a claim ) and protected NCD etc. A pleasant surprise. Needless to say it will all vary depending on your personal information. Age, NCD, post code, where its kept over night, motoring convictions, non motoring convictions, any disabilities blah blah blah. Even how insurance companies are feeling on the day! But it gives you an idea. |
