Has anyone used Gladen alpha kit? Is there a big difference between the speakers in this kit vs the ALPHA?

IMO they are better than standard but not great. Whats missing is the bass. And now Ive heard HK in a friends car its on a different level.
so if i were to buy these again would be with the amp. |

I opted for HK but it's no where near as good as it should be. I begrudge paying so much for a car and it then need it's inside ripped out in order to install a decent sound system. I was far too impulsive when I bought mine this time! I had some time to kill a couple of weeks ago so had a wander around in an Audi dealership. I sat in a very highly spec'd A6 3.0L Avant Quattro. The fit and finish made my car seem like a plastic toy. Then I switched the radio on. Made mine sound shite!!! Not much else to say really.

pretty sure the woofers in the HK aren't much better than standard.
HK makes up in number of individually amped speakers. 201 + DSP amp is night and day better than base stereo the DSP amped 8" woofers have a pretty decent thump imo if you want window glass rattlers a boot sub is the way to go.... |

Why are you getting the input signal from HU with a quad loop?
Isn't it easier to just use the signal which goes from HU to left/right underseat for the amp? I had the base audio system in my F31 and i just took this signal as input for the DSP. Are there any problems with using this signal? |

you can take any speaker feed from the HU to an amp really.
the quadlock just makes it easier by routing amp feed from the HU, and returning L/R stereo output to the door speakers on original wiring. so you just have the underseat bass speakers to run wiring for from the amp which is easy under the door mucket trim panels. |

Firstly, great write up thank you!
However, I have to say I am really disappointed with my installation :-( I have the Gladen 201 130.4 DSP kit in my F31. I have coded the HU as HIFI and used '1- MAKKAN RHD ANY VOLUME LISTERNER' from this thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...5#post20582215 It's very difficult to put my finger on what is wrong but although it has improved significantly over the base speakers it still doesn't sound as good as the basic speakers on my 10 year on Audi A6 (which has tweeter, mid, sub by default). And I've spent nearly a grand on it! I'm constantly playing with the HU bass/treble/fader. I find treble very harsh at higher levels (especially with female vocals) and then at lower levels it seems muffled. The mid just doesn't sound very clear. The bass is ok, but not as good as the audi and that only had 6" woofers in the doors. It sounds like there is something fundamentally wrong like the polarity being reversed but I have tried reversing each channel in the DSP and it only sounds worse. I have emailed monster audio to see if I can get a different DSP file - perhaps that will help. Does anyone have any other suggestions I can try? Also... the High-Level/Low Level input on the amp doesn't seem to make any difference in the volume (or quality) any reason why this would be? |

ok, I found a tool in the iOS app Store called Speaker Pop:
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/spea...293263027?mt=8 Test tone is available here: http://www.studiosixdigital.com/_Med...pop-long44.wav It told me (very consistently) that my driver's side mid was out of phase. Fortunately it is easy to correct with the DSP, which I have done. It sounds different of course - let's see if it sounds better in the long term! |

Thank you for the reply.
I hope that is not the case tbh Anyone knows a good garage in the south east that will not completely rip me off to install the Gladen system? Thank you. |
