Hi all,

I've bought a Japanese import 2012 BMW F30 328i and wanted to set up the maps/GPS/radio to work in the UK.

I am planning to follow the earlier instructions to try change the radio and then install the maps, I have a CIC unit so hopefully it works the same as the NBT.

Would I still need an FSC code and if so, would anyone be able to help?

VIN is car with Japan NEXT. You cannot install Australia next until NBT is converted to ECE first.

You need much more. Car with Japan CIC needs conversion to ECE first, which for CIC you must modify FA Country Controller and Language option Codes and flash CIC, then you need to write cloned ECE HDD Image to CIC, then you can make map update using map data and FSC Code.

Thank you @shawnsheridan, appreciate the details & clarification on this. I'll have a look and try my best to do that. I've checked my combox, it's a Combox Media BN2010 and says ECE next to it. Would I still need to get a cloned HDD image?

I also received a "CIC unlock" CD with the car related to my VIN, I've translated the Japanese on the back of the CD where it had some instructions, it says "This product was developed to enable navigation operation and TV/DVD viewing.", so not sure if some updates were done previously.

Yes, you still need ECE HDD for CIC.

That CD seems to be to enable VIM (Video IN Motion, nothing more.

inserted the map usb to the arm rest usb port, no system notification for an update. Using 16GB Usb with Fat32 format and files are in root folder.
Any HELP would be appreciable.
I have F11 2013 USB port under the armrest.

If car was imported from Japan, did you convert Head Unit to ECE first before installing Australia map?

I honestly haven't thought about it yet, thanks for the hint, I thought that I could just download the navigation card update with the code to a flash drive and insert it into the car and everything would work, naive...

hiya, i have same F11 import from Japan, same mindset (i think just use fsc code and update map then can change to NZ map).

No, you cannot just install NZ Map. Head Unit must be converted to ECE first. Your PM function is disabled. Send one when enabled.
