Intake For 2014+ F30 335I Manual

I recently picked up a 2015 335I Manual and I'm interested in upgrading to an Injen intake system. I am aware of the controversy surrounding intakes and I have owned plenty of turbo vehicles. I am committed to putting on an aftermarket system, as I know it will enhance my personal driving experience.

There seems to be some confusion around 2014+ F30 Bimmers in a manual gearbox, as Injen and other manufacturers list only 2012-2013 F30s as a proper application for those Bimmers equipped with a rare manual transmission. Apparently the manual equipped models have different vac lines than the automatics (not sure why). 2014+ has the same N55 motor and the only variable I am aware of is that most 2014+ models have the electronic wastegate while some of the older F30s have the pneumatic. I'm not convinced this is the reason, as I've heard that some older F30s do happen to be equipped with an electronic wastegate.

Can anyone shed any light on why an intake good for a 2012-2013 F30 Manual would not work on a 2014+?

man don't waste your money. a VRSF intercooler would be so much more effective. now that's a good mod.

I will eventually do an Intercooler too and I'm not concerned about wasting a few hundred dollars on an Intake. I agree the Intercooler is a better mod, but it's hard to alleviate the itch for spool once you get use to it.

I went with CTS Turbo. It's pretty much the best sounding intake on the market. I'm pretty sure you can get it for manual. Also no CELs with this intake been on my car for 12k miles and almost a year.

Thanks Flwbyu, I have read that thread. The problem is that Injen claims their 6spd manual version only works for 2012-2013 NA55 and those posts are all from that era. No one owned a 2015 back then.

theyre all the same.... intake is an intake... they fit 2012+ f30.... all is diffrent is a vaccum port... I bought a used BMS which was previously on a 2014 335i automatic, i installed it on my 2013 335i Manual, i capped off the vaccum port. Now Im running a AFE Momentum intake

I have CTS Tubo intake on manual 2014 N55 EWG and fit is perfect. They provide a port cap for the vacuum line port that is not used.

With a good FMIC there is not much consideration for IAT, as the turbos heat up the air a lot more then what goes in the intake under normal road conditions..

BMS intake is great option as well.. There are many on the market.

I agree that there are a lot of intakes. I've had the standard open cone type systems as well as the closed or sealed type systems. I prefer the sealed or directed airflow type systems since they try to do something other than just open up the breathing so to speak.

I went with the Dinan carbon fiber cold air intake. I was still under warranty at the time and already had several other Dinan parts. Crazy money but looks nice.

In the end, I would choose the one that you like. The HP amount from this type of upgrade is almost negligible. And it's really meant to work in symphony with several other parts like an axle back exhaust to be truly effective.

I picked up a K&N drop in filter and called it a day. The stock intake works just fine. I'd rather spend the money elsewhere (CP, FMIC etc.).

I'd be inclined to agree with this as well. There are better power adders on this car.

Hi,
You can get it from our website, its pretty clear

Injen used to make 2 different versions of this intake, one for manual and one for auto.
This is not the case any longer as now they make one versions that fits both, which is why on our website we dont ask about the transmission.
