Did steering rack repair-have tool and lube

I had a post about a suspension issue and someone told me it could be the steering rack repair kit that could solve the problem. Anyway I can't find the post but members wanted to know if I bought the tool to remove the part if I would sell it. I have the special tool and the BMW lube FB-1 as well I will sell for anyone needing it. Since neither we will need again I thought best to sell to member and they can use and sell to another member and so on-each time reducing the cost. Let me know if interested.

I sold this to another forum member in hopes that he would continue selling to others that needed it. The lube was enough for multiple jobs.

It is. The part numbers you are looking for are:

32-10-6-891-974 - Repair Kit Thrust Piece AFS
83-23-2-208-093 - Grease FB-1

If you are unable to obtain the magic tool from another member, you can find it on Ebay

https://www.ebay.com/itm/333930774406

Not trying to undermine sponsors but I could not find it on their sites. There are cheaper knock-offs but it seems this tool has a lower profile, which may make it easier to attach at 24mm socket. Hard to say since I haven't done the work yet.

Next step is to order the replacement kit and grease. The BMW original part seems to be made of nylon while the replacement appears to be made of Delrin. That is guess but while Nylon does have a lot of wonderful properties, Delrin is a stronger material. The cost difference isn't that great either so rather than ignore the problem BMW must have thought that a replacement kit wouldn't be killer in price, further angering customers.

It seems like the steering rack repair kit is applicable if you have Variable Sport Steering.

I believe it's any car that uses electronic power steering.
