Question Looking for your advices/opinions on upgrading F30 brakes

Car: 2018 BMW f30 330i LCI

Currently the car has the base single piston brake calipers front and rear, the rotor sizes are:
Front - 330x24
Rear - 300x20

I found a set of front M-sport blue calipers that takes on 340x30 rotors at a reasonable price locally.

My question is - is it a good idea to just upgrade the front calipers only? After doing so, the front will be 4 piston (340x30) vs rear 1 piston (300x20). Will this have any implications on brake balancing etc.

Thanks in advance guys

Brake bias will definitely be affected. The 340mm setup comes with 330 rears. Ypu should be able to find those rears for really cheap. I have a set if you need them. $120 shipped CONUS.

What's your budget for the brakes upgrade project?

How many miles does your car have?

That is a good point. As per your recommendations on brake balancing I managed to track down a pair of m-sport rear calipers!

Would I also need to code anything after changing the brakes?

My budget would be around $1000 - $1200 USD (acquired the caliper set for $750)

I've got the following parts on my shopping list:
1. Zimmermann 1 piece rotor 340mm and 345mm
2. TRW Cotec brake pads front and rear + bendix pad indicators

Feel free to let me know if you have any other suggestions

The car currently only has 15,000km on it, so I'm intending to slowly collect the parts first through sales etc.

Still deciding on a good timing to swap the brakes..

I am going down this road as well. I have a 328i with the stock brake setup, I want the upgraded stock 4pot and 2pot setup as I will also be changing the wheels to 20" LM style ones and the smaller brake setup will also appear quite small behind them.

I suggest to add front and rear brake pad wear sensors to the shopping list. There is one sensor per axle. Very inexpensive.

Hello, all.

Would the M Sport calipers from an older (say 2013) M135i be the same size as the ones that were used on other cars with M Sport brakes? Trying to figure out waht I can use and what I can't...

Thanks, in advance for any replies!

I actually ended up buying a set of M sport blue calipers from a M135i for my 330i. They should fit, the fronts I believe are the same across these models. But the rear comes in 2 piston sizes (40 vs 45), I think the newer models have the larger piston size (they both take the same brake pads though).

Nice, thank you, seirogan!

Does the rotor size stay the same as stock, or increase to 345? Any idea?

Brake upgrade

I would not upgrade to a 340 f and 345 r combo. That's very unbalanced with a large rear bias. Not a good idea.
