I just wanted to say thanks to all who posted here. It was because of the videos I went ahead and got my resonator deleted and picked up a downpipe!
I am amazed!! |

Yup, cut the straight pipe and weld the resonator back into place.

Did this today with MPE and I have to say it sound stellar!! A little louder and no drone.. Got some burbles and pops when shifting fast. Thanks to the OP. This is a great way to make MPE sound better. $100 at the local muffler shop.

They aren't putting the car on a lift. At least that's never happened to me on any of my returns. I'd leave it out unless something is said. Highly unlikely that they would even know.

I'm tempted to do the resonator delete but seeing my car is leased, not sure about it. Obviously I can always re-weld the resonator back on if/when i return the car, but will they care that it was removed and re-attached? hmmmmm

For those who have the MPE and the resonator delete did it increase the burbles? Is it a deeper rumble over all? How much increase in sound? 5%,10%,15%? |

Sounds mad! Would love to hear it when the car is warmed up. I love my MPE exhaust as it is, quite keen to try this mod out for the heck of it though :P |

I have stock exhaust 335i with resonator delete and Catless downpipes. Its a bit drony at 2k rpms so you gotta modulate the throttle more on the highway before it gets annoying. Its livable in DD but on long trips I wouldn't want it. I want people to be aware of this before they go catless and no resonators. My suggestion is keep the resonators on if your on stock exhaust. I might go aftermarket custom exhaust so i don't mind just need to hold off for a bit.

So is it the resonator delete, or downpipe which causing the drone? I would think the downpipe? |
