Don't think it is. TPMS sensor is usually grey. Not black.

Got a bit of a decision to make though, with it being xDrive and the old differing of tread depth issue or non-issue as it may actually be, what do I do? All of my tyres are the same all round and all have about 4mm tread left.

Thinking of getting a full set of non-runflats and selling the 3 good tyres although I wouldn't mind upgrading to 19's in the future. Thoughts?

Had a screw in a similar position to yours and had it repaired by an independent garage.

Yeah they are the same as my TPMS valves. Anyway just bought a set of 19's. Almost immaculate bar one small kerb mark, Michelin PS3's all round with 6mm on rear and 7mm on front. £750. No biggie if the valves aren't TPMS as I'll just swap them with mine that are.

On getting my wheels swapped over.... would you trust any tyre fitting place to swap them over (assuming they will need balancing and TPMS changing over - will everywhere even be able to do this?) or would you be looking to take it to a BMW Specialist to have done?

When I had my wheels refurbed the guys said taking the tpms out was easy. Seems to be just clamped onto the wheel by means of that metal collar to me, so would imagine any tyre place could do it.

Only thing is there a different variations of tpms valves as some have longer stems than others, and the electronic gubbins are also different, but if you're swapping like for like wheels it shouldn't be an issue.

Anywhere. Make sure you tell them they are staggered so they don't make any daft mix ups.

Sounds about right I'm afraid. 20 quid a corner to remove tyres, refit with TPMS valves, balance, fit to car.

I've usually managed to get guys at Kwik Fit or National to swap summer and winter wheels over for 20 quid cash all in, however that is quite a bit less work than you are needing done.

Yeah rang a couple of garages up, best I got was £60 - £80 which will probably end up being £80. I think I'm in the wrong job, surely can't be more than an hours work can it?

Agreed, £15-£20 per corner depending on size is the going rate. I just had a tyre fitted at the weekend and it was £20.

Quick one - does it matter which way round the PS3's go? They are marked "outside" but will it matter which way round the wheels go (on the same axle obviously)?

If there's no directional arrow indicator then it doesn't matter.

They look standard to me, tpms ones have a thicker stem.
