What I can't quite understand is why they keep calling it "downpipes" instead of "downpipe", since N55/B58 engines have only ONE turbo. That, and the fact that the Feds are starting to clamp down on tampering with Federally-mandated emissions controls, which would be the case when installing this downpipe. In states where they check for an emissions status of "ready" during annual inspection, would this not fail to pass that test? Some states might even have spot-checks where they put a "sniffer" into the tailpipes. Also, any attempt to hide the true emissions levels (like VW did with its TDI engines) could bring some nasty results for the owner, since this deviates from factory equipment. Last I heard, violating the emissions laws carries up to a $10K fine. Realizing that there are plenty of vehicles out there with something like this installed, I wonder what the future holds now that the EPA is tightening the screws? Something to think about.

Catless Downpipe. Pay to play.
Understand the mod you get and enjoy.
- gas powered cars much funnier than electric IMHO.

Nice! You won't be disappointed. I've been running it for a few weeks now and definitely helps with driveability and power. Nice ride btw.

The downpipe install was super easy (the hardest part was getting the stock one out!). That damn slip joint for at the bottom where the midpipe connects didn't want to come out! Just needed some love taps in the right spot.

Bottom line, I highly recommend this. Super deep and noticeably louder (in a good way). You can put it in Comfort and drive normally and it's completely quiet. However, put in Sport and it is a night and day difference! Pops and crackles galore! You can even hear the turbo whistle at times, it's great. I forgot to take pictures of it installed, as we were too eager to go drive it! I'll update this tomorrow with some pics of it installed.

Here is a crappy video I threw together in Comfort mode.

Here the best I can do showing the DP installed.

I'm not sure if it's in my head, but it seems to have gotten a lot quieter. I'm not certain if I'm loosing my mind because I'm not sure how that's possible unless the car recognized something and dialed the tune back accordingly. That sounds bonkers though so I'm going to chalk it up to me being nuts.

I also finally got the CEL and then enabled the JB4 to clear it and that worked perfectly.

Sorry about that guys! I'm not sure what the hell is going on with Google Photos, but hopefully it's now fixed. I recreated all the links for each photo.

Did you have to get under the car to remove/install the dp? What kind of tools are needed?

Yeah, had to remove passenger wheel. The hardest part is removing the midpipe from the stock downpipe. BMW uses those slip-joint clamps to seal exhaust pipe together and it's a pain in the ass to remove. Once it's out the new one goes in within 10 seconds.

No specialty tools are needed.

Why did you remove the midpipe? I installed it without removing the midpipe and without removing the passenger wheel.

I didn't remove the midpipe from the car. I mean removing the midpipe from where it connects to the downpipe.

I removed the wheel to make it easier on myself. Not necessary but helpful IMO.
