eBay carbon fiber trunk spoiler recommendation please

Hoping someone recently purchased a carbon fiber m-performance style trunk spoiler off of eBay and had a good experience with perfect fitment and high quality for low cost.

I know through other threads on here that they can be hit or miss and Taiwan sellers are better fitment but really hoping someone can link me to one that they recently purchased because there are a lot of different sellers!

Thanks! Need one ASAP as my painted trunk spoiler just cracked/split outta nowhere

So you need the perfect fitment one with lowest cost. I dont think it works like that lol. Either pay for a quality one or take your chances with a cheap one. You get what you pay for rings true with CF items.

If shopping on eBay focus on Taiwan-based sellers and look for the ones that brand the part ikonmotorsport.

My front lip, mirror covers, trunk spoiler and roof spoiler are all that brand. Fitment was spot on and the weave/ finish was perfect.

Don't listen to the haters. Don't overpay for appearance mods. I bought this spoiler and while I can't recommend the seller it was decent quality and fit perfect. I think you can find this spoiler cheaper than $156 (what I paid) also shipping took more than 3 weeks. Make sure you have some extra 3m tape. The seller did not provide enough in my opinion.

PS: KC328 your ride is looking legit!!!

Some of us are out of luck though... for the F36 I believe there's only eBay (such as Ikonsports) vendors for the trunk spoiler

And it's fact that you believe the common fallacy that everything on eBay is "bad quality".

Plenty of quality parts and products on eBay, it's just a marketplace like amazon, or your favorite vendor's brick and mortar.

Countless vendors in the US manufacture overseas, and suffer the same quality problems you seem to think only exist with "EBay products." Just because you buy it from them and pay more doesn't make you better. Stop spreading this kind of misinformation, it's quite ignorant.

Spend what you want, but don't bash people for looking for deals. It's just a mass produced German car, not a bespoke Koenigsegg LOL.

The comical part of your response is that it is totally opposite of what most professionals know about accessorizing.

If you cannot afford the best item, whether it be home furniture, wardrobe or ev a car, you buy a decent quality item and buy high end accessories to make them look better.

A great tie can make an average suit pop. Ditto for great throw pillows on a sofa.

You are implying go cheap in the accessories which is opposite the way professionals know how to make average stand out.

And yes, you can buy high quality on eBay and high price DOES NOT assure quality.

We’ve all seen too many cars that prove some people have no clue how to accessorize properly.

It's the notion of what is "proper accessorizing", and what isn't. Some people like to pay 300% for items, some don't. That's where it should end.

It's like going to a club, or event. You can spend $500 on something you can get else where for $60. Either is your prerogative, but there is nothing wrong with being fiscally responsible for certain things. This does not include safety items like brakes, or windscreens, etc, but spoilers and cosmetic accessories are already unnecessary, if we are being honest.

In any case, modding cars can't be considered fiscally responsible in any sense, so having this pseudo caste system within modding culture is just ludicrous.

Ok, easy on the bullshit pissing contest. It is a known fact that parts made overseas can be hit or miss and some are just as good as oem. I'm not about to pay $600 for an oem rear trunk spoiler and personally think whoever would is a total mark.

So.... was asking for a link to a known proper fitting rep from eBay, that was the point of the thread.

If nobody can vouch for proper fitment of an eBay rep from Taiwan I will just end up ordering from ikon motorsports as they have been vouched for countless times for quality and fitment.

OP - Just order from Ikon and be done with it. It's not worth your time trying to win a pissing contest with the "forum elitist" here. It's the gamble that you take - make your bed and sleep in it.

I've purchased rep stuff that has been fine and some that have not, it's all part of the game. Like most have mentioned, Ikon is probably the leader in that realm. JB Speed was respectable back in the day as well, not sure if they're a player anymore (aging myself).

I've also dropped coin on OEM parts too - pick and choose your battles.

I went with this one. Fit is fine, not perfect but not bad. The ends line up with the trunk great, but the gap isn't even across the top. Defiantly can't complain for the price.

Another popular and confirmed source is jhpdynamics on Instagram. He has lines to some good suppliers who also sell on eBay. Pretty competitive Im pricing as well.

There is an OEM one for f36. I'll grab you the link in a sec.

Man plenty of people don't get that do they? BMW have sold more than 700.000 F3X cars IN THE US ALONE.

This is not some crazy arab Shiek painting a McLaren F1 bright pink and putting chrome wheels on it. Dude even a Golf R is SIGNIFICANTLY more rare and exclusive than an 335/340.

They are mass market cars, and they get mass market mods, period. If people value their car really highly good for them, it's their car after all, I love mine to death, but it does come across very often that as you said BMW owners believe they are driving a bespoke classic that deserves special respect.

So.....on my 135i, I had the OEM carbon spolier. 10 years later it still was flawless. Not a single sign of fading or yellowing. It was manufactured by BMW at their Oregon plant I assume (the largest CF facility in the US FYI). So I am def sold on OEM quality.

Fast forward to my 435 GC, I ordered a SPM M4 Style CF wing on Ali Express for 84 bucks plus shipping. It came in today and I'll have an initial review when I get home and test fit it.

Obviously I won't know how well it ages, until it ages. But I figure it's worth the gamble. I'm far from a purist, but I value quality and I think it's sensible to pay for something that will last.

Just my .02 Fingers crossed.

If not concerned about running exclusively OEM parts for no reason and money is a concern, there are very few reasons to buy the original BMW part.

Even if it ages poorly and it needs to be replaced after 1 or 2 years, you can replace it SIX times before you break even. Are you even gonna keep the car that long?

Sure installing and removing is a pain, so if it's a yearly thing then it's probably not worth it, but 400$ of savings is definately worth having to do the install a couple of times if the first spoiler starts looking crappy 24 months down the road...

I have aliexpress mirror covers and they have degraded SLIGHTLY in about 18 months. I'm guessing they'll last at least another 18 before they need to be replaced. That'd only be my second 70$ set of fake covers... so 140$ + an hour of my time vs 600$ over the time i'm likely to keep the vehicle... Definately worth it in my book.

Well, I mean, when you put it like that.......lol

Def agree 100% as long as fitment is good. That's the other aspect.
If it looks cheap, then I would say the car deserves better. But that's any car. Even a $2k civic can be a clean ride if the owner does it right.

Of course you're 100% right, fit is paramount. It doesn't matter how cheap a part is if it doesn't fit or it looks crappy right out of the box.

The parts look right, the shape is perfect, and the fitment on my cf spoiler was spot on. Upon first inspection I thought it was slightly shorter than the real thing since it left about a 2-3mm gap on each side, but then I got a chance to compare it to an actual OEM one mounted on another 4 series, and even an original M4, and the dimensions are spot on...

But as always, low-price ebay and aliexpress items are a lottery. Mine fit perfect, most people's fit fine or perfect. Your's might not and that can easily turn into a nightmare of poorly translated back-and-forth emails between you and the seller to try and get your money back.
