Bimmercode Expert Mode vs. Cable Computer Method (E-Sys)

Is there a difference in coding opportunities between the two? There is a lot of threads showing different features to code. But can I do the same procedure in the Expert Mode in Bimmercode. Thinking of getting Bimmercode since I didn't have that opportunity with iCarly.

Apologies in advance if this is a duplicate question already asked.

Bimmercode is a very simple (in basic mode) and convenient route to FDL coding. However, it doesn't always expose all the possible features, even in expert mode, so some changes may be impossible. Also, of course there is no access to VO coding.

I have found that using E-Sys to browse through the settings, and also examining CAFD files with TokenMaster's free NcdCafdTool gives a greater understanding of what's going on, and reduces the chance of making silly changes. Even if you just use them to identify the items to be modified, using Bimmercode/Expert is then much easier and safer.

If you don't want to get into the messy business of keeping the Launcher program working, you can still use E-Sys to download CAFD data and then browse it with NcdCafdTool.

Would changing from Steptronic transmission to Sports Auto Transmission (option code 2TB) be considered a VO coding change?

Someone here will give you a fully qualified answer. My (guess) is that this can only be achieved by changing a VO entry and not by FDL coding. If so, you need E-Sys.

All VO changes can be FDL coded.
Changing the VO is only the easy way, because some VO changes require very much different FDL codings.
And VO coding has the advantage that you can firmly anchor equipment codes.

I would think that finding out all the FDL changes (for Bimmercode) required in implementing 2TB would be a lot harder than just VO coding it with E-Sys.

I have not found a single "reasonable" instance where BimmerCode / BimmerLink has fallen short.

Implementing 2TB is effortless with BimmerCode?

Took me about 6 minutes total.

Try and code SPBR in Bimmercode

So what is your point? You asked if SAT is considered VO coding; yes it is if you want to explicitly add 2TB to the FA. If you just want to FDL code all the implied changes, assuming you know what they are, then you don't need to VO code, as you have proved.

The point was that you do not need to know anything about coding to add 2TB with BimmerCode. It's literally two different slider buttons.

You implied that it was challenging or difficult for the non-coder or first timer.

you will need to code it when you upgrade to sport brakes... fdl is fine for little stuff but somethings, like performance brakes, need VO coding
