After putting it off for a year, I've decided to finally buck up and retrofit the alarm system. Anyone willing to help out a newbie with coding (esys and whatnot) but decent experience working on cars?

Help with Siren not working
Big thanks to roxxor for posting this, and for the others who have added to the thread.
I'm a retrofit and VO coding newbie and, like others in the thread, I am having a problem getting the alarm to output to the siren, which has not worked even once. The alarm does seem to work fine otherwise, the clown nose blinks and the alarm activates the horn (and flashes the lights) when opening a door or when the movement sensor is triggered by waving my hands inside the car. I do, however, get the fast blinking in the first 10 seconds after arming, which can mean an issue with the siren. I hoped my problem was a wiring issue, but it does not appear to be. I checked my power and my ground, those were both good. I then went ahead and removed the wheel again and pulled the plug going to the siren. Using a voltmeter I was able to confirm there is 12V going there w/ + on pin 3 and - on pin 1 (those are the outside pins), and I was able to confirm continuity on the signal wire (pin 2, the middle pin) up to pin 11 in the roof console plug. Anybody have any ideas? I am a coding newbie and although I followed the instructions as to the VO coding (I did not do any FDL coding for this retrofit), something might not be right with the coding. Or do you think I need a new siren? The attached image is the error information from Rheingold/ISTA-D. "SINE" refers to the siren as best as I can tell. I'm not sure what "terminal 15" is, or what "adjustment of coding data" means, etc. Thanks in advance. |

Will remote lock/unlock work with BMW connected?
I have received the parts for this retrofit, which I will do in a few days. I was shocked to learn that my F30 did not have an alarm.
Does anyone know if remote lock (via the BMW Connected app) arms the alarm? I have read somewhere that some people had some issues with the alarm not being armed when a lock command is initiated via the BMW connected app. |

Some people noted earlier that they had to re-check the wiring to make sure that all the wires are connected properly. That seemed to solve the problem of the siren not outputting the alarm sound.

A couple of other pieces of information: 1) I checked to see how it would act with the siren unplugged, and the alarm would not arm (the clown nose did not blink at all, etc.), so I think the roof module "sees" the siren even though it doesn't activate it, because it arms fine when the siren was plugged back in (but when the alarm is triggered it still honks the horn, rather than the siren). 2) the car is a 2013, and the retrofit roof module is from a 2016, but realoem shows the part # as being fully interchangeable, so I don't think that would be the problem. |

I have a wagon and it says I have a different part number for the overhead console. It’s so pricey for the wagon... |

Hey guys, so I am completely new to the BMW community and just bought my first BMW a 2014 BMW 328i. I love it, but was under the impression that it had an alarm system. I came from a Hyundai Sonata that had all of that stuff standard so I find it truly hard to believe this doesn’t have an alarm system. Anyways, I was wanting to know where to purchase an alarm retrofit kit for a BMW that has the mirror with the clear looking nose piece and a sunroof already equipped. Does anyone know where to purchase this? Is there any place that I could possibly take it to that would help me install it? I’m just not sure how to install it since I don’t know much about customizing a BMW. Also, how much does it cost for all the parts that I would need? I greatly appreciate it!

Currently struggling through the installation myself. I’m trying to connect to the fuse box but the double leaf spring is not locking in place. Did you need to remove that piece from the fuse box in order to lock it in? If so- how?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’ve been working on my f30 for a while but electrical work and wiring is fairly foreign to me.

Thought I was getting somewhere- finished the physical installation and got the blinking nose ! I coded option 302 (I think) and tried to code the two closest cafd files for the FZD. Long story short, I have absolutely no clue how to e sys code. Neither siren or the alarm are working despite having a clickable options for the acoustic signal under Door Locks (which I want !) would greatly appreciate any help for a complete coding newbie

@[david51] and I were able to activate the alarm system (with motion and with opening the door when it was locked), however it only set off the horn (although still fairly loud.) Does anyone know how to switch it entirely over to the siren? Also would like to have the acoustic chirps for locking and unlocking (despite me having already checked the option in iDrive). I'd bet they go hand in hand and hopefully there's one magic button that fixes this situation !!

it's because it's activated on the horn and not the siren just activate the siren and deactivate the horn |

How much do you charge to code remotely? I’ve watched a lot of YouTube videos and searched in forums and I can’t figure it out. My husband and teenager both said they would try but they haven’t been able to figure it out either. I haven’t even been able to do the first step and add option 302 to the FA.😭
