Cool Spangle's F31

Hi

Newish to bimmerpost for some reason I couldn't get my activation Email so switched to my hotmail account and came straight through so thought I'd better say hello

Couldn't see an obvious welcome thread so looks like you start your own project thread in relevant country section

Anyway I purchased a '14 plate 320d X-Drive M-Sport touring beginning of august and now I'm over the "new car"-ness I'm thinking I need to make it mine

I have a load of queries etc. but as new to forum not sure on best tact for posting things so advice greatly apricated

Welcome - pics needed and then we can all pile in with ways to sink money in!

Like most thinks, there are some very subtle mods that really change the look and you can pour in £££ to get anything you like.

Cheers for the responses

Still poking around this forum and google but I am thinking of just pouring my questions etc in here then if their is a thread I've missed peeps can point me in the right direction

I've downloaded 'My BMW' and 'Driver's Guide' apps so I'm slowly learning the basics, never mind the fact its been over 10 years since I last drove an auto

First really random question how do you stop the rear intermittent wipe?

Rear one?
When you push the right stalk forward it should activate the rear wiper, so pull it towards you but not all the way as it will start the front washer jets

So to stop its just a gentle pull towards you?

Yep, that'll do it.

Nice looking car, exterior wise almost identical to mine when I collected it a year ago.

Welcome.

Lots of things that you could do to your F31, not all are expensive either, some are even free.

You'll find some great ideas in some of the build threads on here.

Yeah think I was pulling too far and setting the front washers going and didn't try a second gentle swipe

Have you got a build thread on here to give me even more ideas/questions

Yeah been looking around and getting ideas

First up like you say is the free stuff so gonna have a play with BimmerCode at the weekend

On the cheaper side of things I am noticing a few carbon garnishes but still in two minds with the contrast to the silver

Welcome

First thing I'd do is change the nostrils to all black, it matches with the door surrounds and roof bars much better than the chrome look......
After that, how deep are your pockets

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/183544039...4AAOSworhb8tdt
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283390915...8AAOSwdhdcLivN
Must say, they've gone up a lot since I last looked

Yeah thats one of my first to do items as its the only bit of chrome on the car and does stick out

But again not sure if to go the carbon surround https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/362723307...kAAOSwC51dT~jl

Plus either black or carbon to go with the M stripes on the grill

Welcome fellow Touring owner. Rep grilles are dirt cheap on ebay, not worth paying for OEM ones IMO. I'm not a fan of the M stripes grilles, but go for them if that's your thing.

Yeah cant decide on the M stripes cause I've never seen a one in the flesh

I've seen some clip on ones advertised somewhere but I think the ones in that link are part of the grill

No thread I'm afraid, there are pics of a few of the additions dotted among my previous posts, but as a quick rundown so far I've done the following -

Exterior -
Wing mirrors wrapped in gloss black
Swapped the grilles out for the M4 style in gloss black
Fitted the M perf front/rear splitter/diffuser/side blades
Fitted 'spatz' to the rear extending the side blade effect
Changed the double exhaust tip to the slightly fatter variant in black as opposed to the original chrome finish - part number 18307610633
ACS springs
15mm rear sway bar - Part #33556853476 and req'd bushings #33506792199
Swapped the alloys from the original 403's to 704's
12/15mm spacers
Alpina gearbox flash
Swapped the run-flats for a set of Goodyears Assy 5's

Interior -
Carbon/Alcantara handbrake
Wrapped the door handles, gear selector/surround and idrive surround in matte carbon.
Changed the original pro-nav screen for an Android head unit.

Should point out I've removed the front splitter as I kept grounding out and also took the spacers off.

Forgot I'd done so much ...think that's about it! I'm not sure there's much more I'd bother with, not worried about a remap as things stand but would possibly go for the full ACS damper setup if funds allow.

Been googling quite merrily on most of that

Starting to get a list of things to do/get in my head

Like I said this weekend I'm gonna play with the software side of things so I have no doubt there'll be questions there (already reading up on how to do an iDrive + map update)

I need to keep in the back of my mind that this is my new daily and need to be careful with funds as my project car is an R33 GTR (which reminds me I have some carbon bits in the garage so I'll hold them next to the silver to see the contrast)

First change will more than likely be the grill to get rid of the shiny bits and depending on what the carbon looks like I've seen some carbon fin covers so will have a think

Just thought as well my F31 didn't come with the parcel shelf (not sure if you can call it that as its basically a roller blind) any good places to sauce one?
