Gearbox Service Recommendations - Durham/NE

Hi all,

A few weeks into 330d ownership and I bloody love it! The way it drives and pulls is just amazing. But then just nipping out and about, I will never go back to a manual car.
Anyway I digress, the reason for the post, the car has just turned 59k and I have read several pages where the ZF recommended service is 60 to 65k.
Has anyone any experience of having the work done in County Durham or surrounding areas? I have a really good garage for most of my jobs but think this needs a bit more specialised attention.
Any advice greatly received

Thanks

Try Plough Motors , Independent BMW Specialist at Boldon. Top bloke and reasonably priced.

He changed a full auto gearbox on my previous E91 but fitted a new service kit and changed the oil at the same time. I've since used him for all sorts of other work, can't fault him.

FYI, I enquired back in July 2019 with a local specialist (Automatic Gearbox Centre Limited in Brighton) and this was their reply:

Thanks for your enquiry. BMW class the lifetime of the car to be the three year warranty. We recommend having the gearbox oil and filter changed before 60,000 miles has been reached. This is something we can provide and the total cost would be £280.00 + VAT = £336.00.

Can't help you with your area I'm afraid but the price info might be interesting. Don't know if it's good value and I suspect an indie may be cheaper. Haven't had it done on mine yet as I haven't reached 60K yet but as current plan is to keep the car, it's something I'm looking at.

Austrin Gearbox Specialists just north of Gosforth have a good reputation, I used them last year and can't complain.

Lol that's a bit presumptuous but what do you expect from a company that makes money from it!! It certainly lasts longer than 3 years. Brake fluid is 3 years and every 2 years thereafter but BMW don't call that a lifetime

I had mine changed after 5 years and 88k - the mechanic said the fluid looked/smelt good but I could still feel a subtle improvement from the new stuff.

I provided the Mannol branded equivalent to the ZF Lifeguard fluid. Car seems to like it

I didnt have any Diffs or the Transfer Case done no - may look at this soon as a driveway job. Fluids in those generally last longer as they are typically not vented to atmosphere so have lesser chance of getting oxidisation/water.
