Tyre (tire) advice.
I appreciate this topic has been discussed ad naseum but I’m just struggling to find info that I can rely on.
Currently on Pirelli runflats on my BMW 405m 20inch alloys (F31). They’re the tyres that come straight from BMW. The ride’s pretty harsh and I’m personally not a fan of runflats. I want to get MPSS or MPS4S. Issue is with the same fit kwik fit only offer runflats on MPS4S and I feel like the sidewall of the alloy is too exposed and wanted something a bit wider. I was thinking of going 235/35/20 front with 265/30/20 rears (standard is 225/35/20 and 255/30/20). Gave my local tyre garage a call and all they said to me was don’t change the sizes BMW do a lot fo research etc these are the best tyres for your car (probably partially true). Anyway I want non-runflat tyres that are wider than the current set up, but also don’t want to veer too far from OEM and risk car’s safety/stability/ABS/excessive speedometer discrepancy etc. Appreciate any input. |

Hi mate, late reply. But curious to see what you went for in the end?
I've an F32 xDrive running staggered 19's (225/40 and 255/35). Had the OEM Bridgestones when I got it, didn't like the ride quality with them so went for eagle assy's as next choice RFT. I've just found my 2nd bulge on the front in under a year on these so looking for a replacement brand rather than forking out for my 3rd front set in a year. Unfortunately can't get the MP4's in RFT in my tyre sizes so I'm a bit limited for options really. Would prefer RFT's, but if I can't find a decent option I'm just going to go non RFT MP4's. As with your post, any thoughts/advice would be appreciated. |
