is a muffler delete a good idea?

if I'm just looking for better sound and better aesthetics on the car (rather than 2 exhaust tips on the left on the vehicle, going for a dual or quad exit, either side of the car) would a muffler delete be a good and cheaper alternative to a performance exhaust as i am on a tight budget. btw my car is a f30 bmw 328i and I'm going for the 335 or even the m3 look with the m performance rear diffuser, what do u think?

A performance muffler of any brand will run you around $550 minimum before labor for installation. A muffler delete will run under $200 out the door. The quad tip may be more but that's a guess.

I've been on the fence with this myself. There's a shop in my area that did a 335 delete for a friend of mine for $150 and it's awesome. A delete will be loader especially on start up. You can search and find tons of videos which may just confuse you more! They all start to sound really close when you've watched a hundred of them. Also keep in mind you'll have to install the 335 rear diffuser to fit the pipes and quad tips will most likely require diffuser modification.

Although I haven't completely ruled out a delete with a possible double tip 435 style option, I'm 95% sure that I'm going to have the 428 M Performance muffler residualized into my lease and installed when my car arrives. I still need to find out how much my payment will go up.

My ultimate goal is to get a better sound without being too loud or sounding like a rice rocket. Could go either way with a delete on the N20 engine.

And finally, my personal thought on going from the 328 twin tip on one side to 335 style tips is ok. The quad M3 tips on a 328 is too much but that's just my opinion. Sorry for the long winded reply.

If you are on a tight budget, don't mod because a tight budget usually results in cheap looking and sounding mods.

I personally don't like muffler deletes, don't like the sound. Get a nice aftermarket exhaust for about $300 more, it won't make your $50000 BMW sound like a $5000 shitbox.

I am in the no muffler delete club. Some say it sounds good but I think they sound like ass. Depending on if you have a catless DP or not, having one will increase the sound level as well. Some time ago I had my muffler disconnected for a couple days and the sound was atrocious, I also have a catless DP. I'm sure the shitty sound will increase with a *35 setup.

This must be a titanium muffler at this cost??. A well branded muffler should cost no more than $250ish. A muffler delete will not meet your ultimate goal. Does a muffler delete sound good at idle and low RPM?? I would say yes. You will get that rice rocket sound in higher RPM's and cold starts for sure. Bottom line is these are still 4 bangers. IMHO there is no way to make it sound like it's not, lol.

Which mufflers specifically? And yes I'm being genuine and not a smart ass. If I found a good "performance" muffler option for $250 I'd love to check it out. Haven't seen anything for less than $550.

There are many out there within my stated price range. A simple Google search will yield high results. Magnaflow, Flowmaster, etc. One muffler is not going to better than the next performance wise for a DD. They all use very similar design (straight through for the most of them).

Considering aFe is a popular brand here, take a look at this....
