You would think with N20 engine failures they would be done using that engine. Or did BMW fix the defects?

I believe BMW fixed the timing chain issue in 2014/2015.

They stopped using the N20 in 2017 and now use the B48 which doesn't have timing chain issues. Also fixed the N55 charge pipe issue with the B58

similar situation, I own 420i with n20 b20 and thinking to add

catted sport DP (don't want to fail emissions)
FMIC with hard charge pipes.
and bm3 stage 1 (want to be extra safe)

I wanted to return my car and get some 335i, however, they won't accept my car if the receiving value is higher than the 50% of the value of the new car, so I'd have to go for an M3 or something as the 4 series is still valued high in CR.

However the driving and style of the car makes up for the lack of power, I hope my mods will make it better

I am on my second 320i. I agree with most of the posts, it’s a fun, economical car. You won’t be winning many races, but you will enjoy the ride ! I just did the JB+ and felt like this perked things up a bit.

Correcting myself as n20/n26ís produced up to 02/2015 are covered under the 7/70 warranty. From what I read it seems that the 03/2015 and on received the updated parts.

It's funny that some people consider that a 320i is not an "enthusiast" car yet back in the days when bimmer were regarded as "true driving machines" they were all 4 cylinders with significant less power than a 320i.

1991 318is is a fun car. Stripped down but you could rev the living daylights out of that M42.

I would get a refurbished 328 or 335 for the same or less money than new or used 320.

One more thing about the 320i.... it lighter than a 330i
320i does not have a folding rear seat back. The 320i is very tossable!
Very responsive.

First time BMW owner. Purchased a 2017 320i XDrive 8 Speed Auto with 16K miles in March 2020.

I must say that while I realized the 320i was an entry level BMW, I cannot complain about it. I'm a former 2010 Mazda RX-8 owner, and this car takes me back to when I had that car. It wasn't fast, but my favorite thing was the handling (and the rotary engine of course). The handling in my 320i feels exactly the same.

I totally understand it's under powered, but mine is a daily driver (when we can get back to work of course given COVID-19), and the two days I had it before the stay at home order, it didn't need much effort to pass or keep up with traffic during my commute.

I saw someone in this forum say the rear seats do not fold. Mine has the 40/20/40 split rear seats option. I also have the front power/heated seats and moonroof. The HiFi sound system is quite amazing (if people complain it's not as good as Harmon Kardon, the HK system must be absolutely awesome). In fact, I just realized my front seats have woofers under them (didn't even know it came with that until I saw it mentioned on YouTube).

I was surprised during the test drive the seats were not leather (Sensatec), but I got over that quickly because taking care of my RX-8 and other vehicle's leather seats always drove me nuts. And if someone scratched the leather I could never stop thinking about it, so I don't have to worry about that with the vinyl seats.

My favorite thing about the car is the ambient lighting. I test drove it during the daylight, and on the night drive home, I was completely shocked how nice it looks around the entire interior of the car (I assume this is fairly standard based on all the post-purchase research I've done).

All in all, I'm having a blast with it. It's one of those vehicles which you always look forward to driving, even if you have nowhere to go.

Honestly, the biggest thing that swung me to buying a BMW over an Alfa was the B58 I-6.

I think it suits the F30 platform perfectly, and I personally wouldn't want it any other way.

For me personally, a 320i has compromises too much and doesn't differentiate itself particularly well over its competitors within and below its segment today.

Congrats on the new ride!! The 320i is a blast to drive! You know, it’s the internet - pics or it didn’t happen.

Congrats! I replaced my 2004 325I, which I bought new, with a 2016 CPO 320I with 32K miles. It's definitely entry level but alot of fun to drive. You may want to check out some of the CarPlay and Android Auto retrofits out there. I added one and it makes driving the 320I even more enjoyable.

Idk, i have just the BM3 Stge 1 on 93 tune and in "Mexico" i was having fun with both a well tuned A4 and Focus ST to say the least, must have gotten there attention as they both waived me on when i headed back to the states, lol..
