Conversely, the Pagid pads that I'm now running are performing superbly on road and track.

RS4-2 in my StopTech Trophy big brakes on the front, and RSL1 in the stock rears. Excellent bite from cold from the 4-2s (the RSL1s need just a bit of heat in them), really nice pedal modulation, and no gage on track hauling my 1.8 tonne F31 330d down from 130mph or so. They tolerate the heat very well.

They do dust, but that doesn't concern me - I wanted fast road and track performance rather than clean wheels, and the car gets washed most weekends. Also, they can squeal at low speeds, but the performance benefits ate worth it IMO.
Agreed. Lesson learned.

I went and tried to get myself some Pagids (on your recommendation) but they don't make pads for the stock caliper. Bummer.
Are you've checked correctly ?

I have stock (single piston, floating caliper) rear brakes and the RSL1 (one of the Pagid Yellow range) are available in the correct pattern (Pagid 8051/8052).

Pagid also make a range of pads to suit the M-Sport calipers - single piston fixed calipers.

On Pagid's look up by vehicle section it doesn't even have an F30 on the list but that must be incorrect.

I used the dimensions listed by Hawk for their HB748 (and close alternatives) to look up by size on Pagid's site but had no luck.

I also tried by caliper but they don't have Bosch in their list. Lots of dead ends.

If you can find them definitely let me know!

I am running PowerStop Z33s on my car. Nearly zero dust (its amazing) pedal feel is great. Literally ONE squeak each morning when backing out of garage, no squeaks otherwise what so ever at any other time. About 500 miles on the pads no regrets. Initial bite and stop is 94.37% of stock M Perf Pads. The joke with that number is that I actually can't tell a difference at all.

Just a warning, that one squeak is going to progress to get UNBEARABLY loud. I tossed my PowerStop pads at that point and went with Akebono ceramics. More expensive but I'm glad that deathly squeal upon first application is gone.

I experienced exactly the same thing and also switched to Akebono. The Powerstop pads are complete junk.

Agreed - the Pagid website isn't the best search tool for Pagid pads

I use a knowledgeable parts/mods specialist in the UK for components like this, and sourcing the correct Pagid pads has been easy (using their knowledge). There must be specialists in the US that can assist ?

Actually ~600-700 miles later I have no squeaks at all any longer. The one squeak backing out of garage is no more. Pads are great. Couldn't be happier.

+1 for EBC RedStuff which I'm running on the street (700 miles in). Much less dusty and good bite compared to OEM M Sport pads.

It's because the weather warmed up. Just wait until winter . Trust me, I let PowerStop send me 3 sets before I gave up. Mine were perfect for the first 5-10k miles.

Figured this was a good thread to chime in on. I used to swap pads every month on my G8 with different track days (was actually easy to do with Brembo's), but now I'm looking to fix the brake problem on the F30. Used to run Hawk DTC-60's, Ferodo DS' etc...Motul 600, the works. Car was a machine out there.

I've got 25K on my '16 340i M-Sport (Not M-Performance) and I absolutely hammer the brakes, no HPDE's, quit those awhile ago in a previous life. I'm getting a decent amount of what I believe is rotor warpage / steering wheel shake on heavy braking. Obviously the dust is absurd too.

Surprisingly, my non-Brembo RWD 320i brakes were absolutely awesome, and the first thing I realized with the 340i was the difference in weight of the vehicle, it felt like a tank with x-drive and larger motor.

Anyways, my rotors are worn hard, mega glaze over, not smooth at all, I really need to go rotors and pads. Thinking EBC Red's. Does anyone make a decent M-Sport rotor? Slotted/dimple? What is this aluminum hat that I'm reading about? Saving some weight would be solid. I really don't want to do an entire caliper job if I don't have to.

On the wife's '13 E70 X5-35i, I ran slotted and drilled rotors with Akebono Ceramic pads and I couldn't stand how terrible the brake performance was, zero bite, felt like a massively faded pedal. I went back to OEM pads and can't stand the dust situation, but that was the SAV, night and day difference, so I'm steering clear of "low dust ceramic".

Anyways, it's time I fix this problem, need some solutions. Thanks

You could get the 340mm slotted/dimpled version
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=34_2353
See item #04

EBC red or even EBC yellow (would be my recommendation. I just installed them myself and they are great and much less dust then original pads).

I like powerstop sport but they are actually a bit less bite until you get some heat into them, then they are quite satisfactory, and by heat I mean like a hot lap. If you are just on the street I like stock pad. Stock pads are suitable on the track as well.

I understand why some people don't like the factory setup, they don't have that initial grab, but are more linear. I am not sure pads can fix that to be honest. The powerstop sports don't seem to be that noisy or dusty either.

My brakes are due to be changed soon and I just can't stand the squeaking that is coming from the OEM M performance pads any longer. I have the M performance calipers, which after market Rotors and Pads do you guys suggest for minimal dust and good performance? Also I'm thinking of going with drilled rotors cause well they look cool lol but is this a good idea for a 435 with M performance calipers?

My experience:
M Performance Rotors and EBC Yellow Stuff Pads. (new rotors, new pads, front and rear)
They squeak like a champ at very low speed, for the bed in period of about 500 - 1000 miles. But after that process that setup is absolutely free of brake squeaking.
Dust: I would say less then OEM, but still dust. (Go with the Red Stuff for very low dust)

The front calipers that you refer to are both 4-piston units made by Brembo. One only fits over a rotor that is 370mm x 30mm. The other only fits over rotors that are 340mm x 30mm. They both use identically sized brake pads. They have the same size pistons and essentially the same braking power (BMW codes them the same)

370 calipers come in blue, red, yellow, orange and have raised lettering in the casting that says "370/380". 370 calipers will only fit if road wheels are 18" or larger.

340 calipers come in grey and blue and have raised lettering in the casting that says "340". They fit fine with 17" wheels.

Either front caliper will fit on an F3x as long as it is paired with its matching sized rotor.

Zimmermann makes as good or better (since they are coated against rust) rotors as stock. They cost much less than BMW rotors.

My preference for street pads are Hawk 5.0's. Great bite, less dust, lower price and warm up & work fast, unlike ceramic pads.

Hope this helps!

Hi all, looking to buy hawk 5.0 pads and the cheapest I found is from this seller fast modz on ebay. Seems to have a number of good reviews and would like to check in case anyone has bad experience. https://www.ebay.com/itm/184688098819

I am also thinking of using back the rotor which has gone through about 30k miles. do let me know if the require changing. Pic attached.

The Hawk 5.0 seems like a great alternative for good pedal feel and initial bite, without the high dust of some of the other options. I haven’t used that seller before though unfortunately.

I'm selling a set of Ferodo DS1.11 pads for the M Sport calipers if anyone is looking.
