Coding out damptronic suspension

The car came with damptronic suspension but I have installed regular Bilstein B6 shocks, it runs amazing but I have drive train error as the connectors are not disconnected and I can't access sport mode because of this.

Can someone help me coding out this feature? I'm willing to pay for labor

Read up. Basically unplug the module in the trunk then code in VO.

If that doesn't work, you can always buy EDC cancellation units. 100% plug and play.

What happens to the drive modes when you do this? Do you still have the options of comfort/sport/sport+? Does this just kill the adaptive damper or do you also lose the steering and transmission changes?

You only code out the portion of the VO coding that enables adapative suspension. It basically sets up your car as if it was optioned without it. My car doesn't have adaptive suspension but still has drive modes and can switch between Powertrain and Drivetrain, so still a lot of options to set it up how you want.

eboosted, is your car still under warranty? I also suggest to consider EDC cancellation units. At times BMW instructs the dealers to update vehicle programming. Some dealers will not reprogram the vehicle unless the programming is 100% stock.

Or if they do, it could replace the coding you did and throw an error again. If you buy a used cancellation unit then sell it after you sell the car, it's pretty much a wash.

That shouldn't happen. If you remove it from the VO and unplug the EDC unit the car doesn't know it exists. The dealer programming should only update what the car says it has.

Just ask your dealer for no SW updates when you bring it for service. I never had a problem with that over my warranty period.

My understanding is that they run your VIN and, if the system provides updated software, they push that file to your car...why wouldn't it update all the systems that it had from the factory?

My car was completely reset the last time I visited the dealer and to this day I have no idea what they did. Reset all my seat positions, radio presets....everything. I'm assuming it wasn't all updated. Probably just one feature in iDrive or something. But the software update itself resets everything to factory settings. Some of my coding had to be redone as well. Like it re-enabled my seat belt chime among other things.

I just plan on backing up my user profile on a USB stick this time. I didn't expect it to be a big deal but now I see why it's an option.

BMW SW scans the car to see what ECUs are available and what their status is (if you've used ISTA or ESYS you see this when you ID a vehicle or read the VO).

When the individual FDL files are "default coded" anything that isn't default gets reset. Depending on the ECU/module, that can wipe your settings, such as radio presets. When the dealership updates SW they "default code" whatever they update.

If that's the case, then ok. At my dealer, they plug my key into the computer and tell me everything it needs without even hooking it up to the car. He looked up software updates, recalls, etc. So idk.
