19x9.5, +35 or +45 for the rear F30??

Hello friends.

I am going to pick up a set of VMR wheels soon.
19x8.5 +35 fronts.

rears are available in 19x9.5 +35 or +45.
VMR recommends +45 but im thinking +35 might be nicer??

according to offset calculators, the +35 would be very similar fitment to OEM 437M wheels, and i love the aggressive fitment of those.

any advice??
would the +35 rears have fitment issues?

I have 19x9.5 et35 in the rear on my f32. Fits fine.

Don't use an F32 to compare fitment on an F30. I believe ideal fitment is about 5mm apart due to the suspension/fender flare differences between an F32 and F30.

Also, I believe "ideal" fitment on an F30 rear wheel on a 9.5" rim is ET40. Anything under will poke a bit, anything over will tuck a bit. If you are lowered, ET35 is probably fine, though you might need a bit more negative camber to prevent rubbing (depending upon your tire size of course). Tire size is the other big thing here. If you are trying to run a 275/35R19 on the rears, you might actually want the ET45.

Do you want the tire flush with the fender flares or the rim lip?

I run a square set of VMR V705's 19x8.5 ET35 on my F30 lowered in B14 coilovers. They fit perfectly. No poke, no rub.

I'd actually like to run a 5mm front and 10mm rear spacer to get flush fitment. I've tested fitted spacers in the rear and still had no issues.

40 is probably a good offset, 35 you might need to run a little camber depending on your tire.

Thanks for the info!

Yes i suspected et40 would be ideal.

My car rwd msport, so 10mm lower than stock rwd, 20mm lower than xdrive. I dont plan on lowering it any further.
Im planning on running my stock 255 35 19 tires at first, maybe increase to 265 when these wear out.
As for your question, i prefer the look of having the rim flush rather than the tire.

With all this in mind i think im leaning toward the et35.
Et45 on a 255 tire seems like it would be tucked in.

What do you think??

If you are running the stock 255/35R19s, they will be slightly stretched on a 9.5" rim, so I would think the ET35 would be fine. I'm sure there are some folks who have this exact same setup on the board so perhaps they could chime in with some pictures of exactly how a 9.5" ET35 looks on their F30s?

I see it's very close between the F30 and F32/36... maybe 3 - 5 mm.

If you like the aggressive look then it's a no-brainer, go with the +35. It will fit perfectly fine, I run 9.5 +33 in rear and would have a ton of room with a skinnier tire. I'd personally get a drop too to complete the look.

Your right... only if the OP drop/ lower his/her car. +33 or +35 will fit when lowered.

I went with my 19x9.5 +45 rear because I'm not lowering my car. I might change my mind later and lower my car then I'll just add a space 5 - 10 mm space to make it flush.

Here are some pics for you - 9.5 et35 square on 255/35/19 Michelin 4S. The car has HR lowering springs. No camber plates. I experienced no rubbing with this setup. The rear is an aggressive fit but it does work.

I also have a pic of 20x9.5 et42 with 265/30/20 tires. The slightly more conservative offset allows for the fitment of the wider 265 tire in the rear.
