Someone in the trade can do a HPI from the VIN which should give the registration number.

Seems like an odd thing to be doing, usually it's the other way round - wanting to find a VIN from a reg plate so you can check a cars spec, etc.

What are you trying to do in such a rush, as perhaps there's another way without paying for an HPI?

i found a 335d here in Cyprus in a local dealer, its imported from the UK and ill go later today for a test drive and negotiate the price. But i need to know the vehicles full history. I just have the VIN and the Cypriot registration plates

How old is it mate? If it's fairly new, chances are most of the servicing may well have been main dealer - so BMW would have a record of it, and all they need is the last 7 digits of the vin to look it up on their system. Also don't forget that most modern BMW's have the service information stored on the iDrive anyway.

If you want to check it's not been in any accidents, that's an HPI job to be honest.

At least you know what to look for. Needs discs all round, which may or may nor have been done and one of the rear wherls may be a bit suspect. (You will no doubt check the tyres)

Check the car properly and if those things need changing negotiate the price accordingly.

No problem. And 48k miles is nothing on one of these engines, it's just nicely run in.

T5pilot has kindly run an HPI for you, which has confirmed the car hasn't been written off and doesn't seem to have a shady history. Mileage has also been confirmed as correct (which was what you wanted to know originally), and the MOT history has also confirmed i'ts probably be sat about for a while and hence the slightly pitted/corroded discs - which I wouldn't worry about, by the way.

Honestly mate, I would just go have a look at the car, see what condition its it, if it is how you'd expect a 48k mile car to look and drive like, and take it from there.

No amount of digging around the internet will yield as good a feel for a car as actually checking it over yourself.

If you're really worried about it and need to know the complete ins and outs of it's life since it left the factory; which is probably going to be trickier than usual given it's an import for you over there; if you're anything like me, I'd never really feel comfortable about it regardless of how much I'd found out, and so it might not be the car for you.

I did a test drive, engine noise was as it should be (i think, its been a long time since I had a diesel )

the only thing that concerned me is the suspension, in road bumps, it sounded weird or maybe the tires did not have the right pressure or too much pressure, because i had a feeling like i was on "steroids" at high position
