Hi. I have a 2016 435i with a build date of 2016-05-25. As far as I can tell, I have the NBT Evo system (version details shows NBTevo_E16202A). The system doesn't display the tiled menu, just the older text version (although I about to try to code in the the version 6 shortly). I receive OTA nav map updates, so I assume I have the Evo version.
I can source and install the wi-fi antenna locally, but from what I read here, I just need the FSC coding to retrofit/activate CarPlay. Am I understanding this correctly? I guess I don't completely understand how a 2016 can be made CarPlay compatible when the 'Apple compatible hardware' wasn't introduced until the 2017 cars. I will be very happy if it can be activated in my car though I guess I am looking to hear from anyone who has successfully done the activation on a 2016 with the similar v5 system, and maybe someone could help me out via PM with an introduction on where to purchase the required FSC. Thanks guys. Last edited by euphemus; 10-15-2018 at 01:10 PM.. |

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, but I promise I looked for the better part of the last couple days.. I understand the requirements for the carplay. I meet all of them except having NAV. I believe I have entry_evo? I think I have NBT EVO due to the tiles and ID5. When I bought the car I planned to do like my wifes car and just code in apple car play and use my phone for navigation. For the life of me, I cannot find even a bad explanation as to why I need to have NAV to have carplay..seems kind of redundant... I have enhanced bluetooth and WiFi. VIN is VB98560. What would I need to do in order to get carplay working in my car? Is there an alternative solution aside from the bimmertech retrofit to getting screen mirroring or carplay that won't cost as much as having just purchased the NAV package in the first place? Thanks!

Hi Everyone,
I'm looking to have carplay coded but I have no idea what needs to be done or who to contact to have it done, I have a 2016 420D gran coupe with Pro Nav manufactured June 2016. I've tried to get carplay from bmw connected store but its not available, It doesn't have the tiled view so I'm guessing its ID5. Can anyone help me please ?

Hi Everyone, Old Beemer user and ex coder (Small time) just back into owning a Beemer as left them and went to Fleet car.
I have just purchased a 2014 F31 which is of decent spec with the exception of the Nav & Screen, It has Business Plus with bluetooth + Audio, I would dearly love to get info about what can be done with an upgrade to it if anyone can tell me? I don't have the car yet but get it week commencing 5th November. Thanks Guys

So after 8 pages i'm still none the wiser.
I have a 2018 F31 340i with pro nav and from what i've read online enhanced bluetooth. First few questions Is there any checks I can make within Idrive 6 to see if i have the right equipment behind the units to simply just code Apple Car play? If there isn't anything there then are there multiple options i could choose to go down in regards to retrofitting it, are there multiple suppliers Once I have all the kit installed is it simply a matter of speaking to someone in this thread privately to get the codes for it and then putting it on a USB? Sorry for the noob questions but it not clear enough through the pages to figure out. |

If they had a free/£1 demo I'd give it a go for a month, but £235 is a lot if you don't know you'll even like it |

I think this might apply to me too - I have a Jan 16 (LCI) F31 with Pro Nav - I don't think it has EBT. Can I get Apple Car Play installed? Also, how do I know what version of ID I have (ID4? ID5?) Many thanks Matt |

Might be worth a try. Just not sure how it integrates with I drive - would like turn info on the digital dash which is probably limited to I drive nav. But pocket casts/ tune in would be good to have direct access to

Brought this off eBay from this user "jbbmretrofitsuk", got the file same day. Worked fine. He's asking for £50, I offered £40 and was accepted.
