It much like making changes to an intake manifold, it can change an engine's characteristics.
Having ran stock, 5'' stepped, and now race IC (which is larger than comp), i never experienced any of that. I suspect it was just adaptations. I know in theory a change in IC volume can cause what you describe but with turbos this small and this platform in general that doesn't seem to be an issue.

Just got word back from my handling/tuning garage that they've finished doing the work I took it in for and a few dyno pulls.

IAT's sat below 15c for the entire session and they're really happy with how clean it performed for an N55.

I think even they're amazed by the 6.5" IC - ambient temp is 9c outside.

Just picked the car back up - graph below, power is to the hub so I'm not entirely sure what it converts for crank if anyone was wondering.

The faint graph underneath is from the previous run back in October with stock intercooler.

Setup: straight pipe catless exhaust, NGK plugs, VRSF 6.5" intercooler, stock intake, MHD stage 2+ 95 octane running roughly 97/98 octane fuel (race gas concentrate).

so the faint graph is with the same setup, same gas mixture, but without the IC? you gained roughly 25whp only by adding the IC?

Probably the faint graph is stock everything and regular gas as he said the new setup is with vrsf intercooler and mhd tune. No way he run mhd stage 2 with stock intercooler.

Previous run was stage 2+ same setup but stock IC and 93 octane fuel. The latest one was with a 97 octane mixture running the 95 octane map.

IAT’s never went above 32c on the stock IC because it’s hardly ever warm in the UK

Glad I finally got one in though, worth the wait as it’s unlocked me the full potential of the map.

Thinking about it I should have asked them to flick it onto the 93 map as I have it setup on multi-map. I’m intrigued to see how different the two fuel maps are

That's exactly what he did and that's why he gained so much power with IC

I had a similar issue. Car usually was punchy and then out of nowhere i got a drivetrain malfunction message. It ended up the the charge pipe turbo side was off. Clamp was installed backwards. I reinstalled and car back to normal.

Good luck.
