Added Apple Carplay (2018 440i)

Didn't even think I needed this but decided to give it a try since it was only $55 compared to the $300 from BMW and I must say, I am very impressed. Works great and I am yet to have any issues. So far almost everything works as intended. The only thing I'm not sure about is whether or not apple/google maps can be integrated to work with the HUD. If anyone knows how, please reach out.

They can’t be integrated to work on HUD in iDrive 5/6

Will be shooting an email as well. Recently picked up a 2016 BMW 340i xDrive MSport and the old system isn't bad (iD4 as my firmware says NBTevo) but it is starting to get on my nerves not having Carplay.

AFAIK you need iDrive 5 or higher to get ACP via coding (MY 2017+, aka a build date after 07/16). Otherwise you'll need to retrofit it with a kit such as this (which is obv much more work and comes at a higher expense):

Very interested to read this thread; just picked up a 2018 430i and irritatingly it doesn’t have CarPlay. For anyone that’s had the coding upgrade, any potential issues down the line with servicing, software upgrades etc?

No, even if it gets wiped you get a BIN file you can reinstall.

I have a 2016 340i. Since this whole 3G thing, I'm giving serious thought to Carplay. What would be available for my car. Last seven of the VIN are:
