changing wheel/tire size setup question

I currently have a set of 18x8.5 et38 F / 18x9 et42 R TA5Rs from bimmerworld. sandard tire size sets 225/45-18 F and 255/40-18 R. I am lowered moderately on Eibach Pro kit 05-22 springs, Oem adaptive struts, with the Dinan bump stop kit. No issues.

Would it be possible to swap front tires to 235/45-18 size and keep the same front wheels while swapping the rear wheels to 18x9.5 et35 and putting 265/40-18s on them? Would there be any problem with rubbing on the front or rear with this change?

you can run 235/45/18 & 265/40/18 on the wheels you have now. if you change the rear offset to ET35, it will have more understeer.

the only thing i would add to your setup with the new tire size combo is a 5mm or 7.5mm spacer up front, mainly to widen the front track for handling but appearance as well, since ET38 is slightly tucked.

hi there

have a question regarding tires as well, would be great if you could give an advice.
what is the highest clearance i can achieve on my f30(xdrive if that matters) ? for winter i want to have as much clearance as possible. is it problem if i will find some 17rims with winter sets of tires with different profile (higher) rather than whatever is on its door badge?

You can increase the diameter, the safe maximum is 26.7". It comes with slight changes in gearing and speedo error (corrected).

what kind of tyre is that? as far as i know 225/45/18 which is on the badge - is 26" in diameter. what about 26.7? may be 225/45/17?

Garage List
225/45R17 is 25”

245/45R18 is 26.7”

Just do the math to figure out diameters

225/55/17 seems to be best option for winter.

It'll work. Taller sidewall for you.

I was using 225/50/17 as my snow tire setup on my F33.
