transfer case oil change / adaptations

as everyone probably knows it is recommended to change oil in transfer case in every 60 000-100 000 km to ensure its good, not jerky operation, probably more often if your power is way above stock as oil will wear much faster. Anyone knows how to provoke error 440102 "Transfer box (VTG) : Oil wear"? then can calculate test plan and make full adaptation of transfer box (it takes 5-10minutes and asks to stop/start engine). There is "transfer case adaptation" in ISTA's service functions but it takes only few seconds and even don't ask to start the engine, so I'm not sure it is enough. I've seen this error in F15/F25/F10/E60/E90 bodies but never in F3x, I can make it appear in F10 and then make full adaptation but it never appears in F3x. Anyone had this error in F30/F32/F36? It should appear automatically at 150 000km.

Hi there.
I actually have it right now on my F36 435d.
I’ve changed oil every 50.000km on the transfer box.
And for some reason it came not long after last oil change. It has run 290.000km now.
Came at aprox 270.000-275.000km.
Have not done anything on it and have no issues, jerkiness or anything else.
Been runing with a tune for the last aprox 180.000km making aprox 370hp/750nm

so “oil wear” error came only at 270000? bmw documentations notes that it is set automatically at 150000, you never had if before or you had but made reset/adaptations with ISTA?

Nope never had it before.
And I had the car since 100.000km
That said, I don’t know if the shop just reset it without telling me.
I’ve used the same shop during all my ownership and trust them. But they haven’t said anything about this error before.

strange as bmw in ISTA states that error appears at 150 000km after last reset as ecu has no ability to evaluate actual oil wear.
