MHD Wireless connection loss

Hey all Has anyone experienced connection loss using the MHD wireless adapter? I have it on my 340i along with a Samsung Tab A 8" and when I was trying to flash it for the first time I was getting errors due to it losing connectivity. I thought maybe it was switching networks or something but it was not. After I finally got it completed when using the monitoring, the gauges freeze and only work intermittently. Has anyone seen this?

Side note as crazy as it may seem it's like it works better when it's a foot away. I have it mounted to my dash below the Nav screen when I'm using it.

It's their first wireless adapter so some issues are expected.

I've had similar issues with OBD plugs. It gets power from the OBD, so if it's not pushed all the way in and installed just right, it can have poor power connection and will drop signal. Sometimes it'll click into place but you still have to push a little harder for a solid connection. Also try pushing on the left/right side of the plug to ensure it's fully seated.

No dice, I had it plugged in all the way.

I haven't had any issues with mine. Maybe reach out to mhd, they might be able to help you trouble shoot. Always possible you just have a bad unit.

They suggested I try running it in airplane mode with Wifi on to see if that helps so I'll be trying that later on but this is a non cellular connected tablet so I'm not sure what that will accomplish.

Maybe just to eliminate interference with other hidden radios. Bluetooth, wireless sharing, etc.

That doesn't make any sense as airplane mode turns off wifi aswell.

You can turn it back on after going into airplane mode. It's like turning off your car then turning on just your lights or radio to run off the battery. It will basically set it up so abolutely nothing else is running except Wifi. It seems like a low likelihood that's the problem though, but it's worth a shot.

You are right.

Here's another thing there's a setting in the wifi to switch to mobile network if wifi is weak, sometimes this cause problems.

He should make sure this option is off.

We've been chatting over email. My only issue now is I am in the frozen north and don't drive the car in the winter so I cannot get the diag log you last asked me for.
