Dealers and finding out your car is tuned
Hello friends, as the title states, besides relocking the DME, flashing to stock and all that, I know delears can check your logs to see the high boost that is different from factory but I'm assuming that after driving on the stock tune for a while, it would overwrite those data entries right? I doubt the DME has storage to collect every single parameter since the time the car was built (MY14)
let me know what you folks think! |

From the E90 days.
Not sure how it is now. https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=336350 But like you, I’m out of warranty so I don’t care if they can see it or not. If I kill my engine with my tune, I will pay to replace it or buy another car. |

Its even easier for them to see if its been tuned, there is an internal flashed count, that way its clear as day to determine if the customer has flashed the car, no need to check logs for anything.

I would say of you leave your DME and transmission flashed and you go to dealer for some kind of service after your warranty is over... it's best to let them know not to do something weird with your DME.
I heard from someone that dealer brick a DME just by plugging it in and updating .. just because there is a flash in there. I don't know if this is true. I'm worried. |

Indeed. If you car is out of warranty, you can do anything you want. It's helpful to keep in mind that if a modification prevents a repair, the dealer can ask you pay for returning the car to stock condition before attempting the repair. It happens quite often when software modifications prevent diagnostic and reprogramming tasks.
