Been trying to do some research and see what might be my best option, if there is one.
2015 335 currently less than 7500 miles. It’s obviously not a CPO. Would it be worth looking to a warrenty with such low miles? Is it worth getting one from BMW? I can always put my stock tune on and change the CTS downpipe back to stock for an inspection if needed. Now I am pretty mechanically inclined and short of engine internals, I’m fairly confident on most projects, but I’d still have to pay for parts. Not sure if that would change things. TIA, I’ve never looked into 3rd party warrenties before this car.

I want to know the exact same thing. I am very mechanical having done engine swaps, suspension, brakes, supercharger installs, electrical. I have a 2015 435i with 45k miles. Warranty runs out around july 2019. I do plan on tuning and modding soon. Not sure if a warranty would even be logical. PS: How the hell do you have only 7500 miles on a 2015??? Is that a typo?

After they confirmed, I called CU and cancelled. The CU asked why so I told them the reality of the coverage. CU was shocked and said they didn’t blame me. |

Whenever you have issue just find a good mechanic and don't go to the dealership. |

Read the fine print these things tend to have lots of loopholes so the warranty doesn't have to pay any claims. Some of these are mechanical breakdown coverage only so just a power train warranty. If your power window regulator or door locks go that's on you.

I recently purchased a 2017 440i xDrive Convertible and it is still under factory warranty, but this is my third BMW and I know better than to own one without a warranty, if it's to be a daily driver. I have been dragging my feet on finding a warranty but today, I got my car back from the dealer after what would have easily been a $2000+ repair. The NBT control head was replaced, and the killer is, most 3rd party warranties I have looked at exclude components of the audio system.
So I'm going to call around the country and see who might sell me a factory warranty at a good price. The local dealer quoted my well over $4,000 to extend the warranty just two years. I'll try the contacts earlier in this thread, but that was 2 years ago so I'm not too optimistic. If anyone knows of a dealer who sells warranties at a good price, please let me know :-) Thanks! Oh - I have USAA, and they just recently discontinued their product :-( |

I have no problem working on a car, and used to work on a bunch of them, back when engines were fairly straightforward. I'll probably fix some stuff myself, for example, I can do brake rotors and pads instead of paying the dealer $750. But if a turbo fails or something like that it's good to have coverage.

That's really interesting. I just bought a 2016 328 GT with 42k miles from a dealer (not CPO though) and the warranty goes through Dec 2020. They offered me an extension to the warranty but it was shockingly high - $5400 for coverage to 75k or 3 years, whichever comes first. I asked how long the offer was good for and the finance guy said "today only" - meaning only the day I purchase. I thought this was strange cause they obviously make money on the warranties so why not offer it as long as the car doesn't turn out to be a lemon. Good to know they may yet offer me some other warranty when this one expires. One thing that makes me reticent to purchase the extended warranty for the 3 Series is that these vehicles seem to be the most dialed in and least likely to have lot of issues, but it *would* be nice peace of mind. I've seen a few Extended Warranty recommendations on this thread but nothing too positive. If anyone has an enthusiastic recommendation, please let me know. |

I have an Endurance, as a 3rd party warranty. Looked at several. It's exclusionary so it doesn't include wearables like brakes, but it does come with key fob and tire replacement, rental car reimbursement, and covers up to the trade in value of my car, which is in nice shape. Bought it last month. 2013 328i f30 with n26 motor. No way I wasn't keeping a warranty on it. Platinum, 5 years, up to 126k miles. My car has just under 52k today. BMW wanted $4k up front for 36k miles? No thanks.

For example, Route 66 has rental car reimbursement, but only if the car is in the shop for a repair that takes 3.0+ hours of labor. That doesn't mean you waiting 3+ hours for it to be repaired of a 2 hour repair. Furthermore, that's for 1 day. Need an additional 3.0+ hours of labor for second day and every day forward. And if it's the weekend or the part isn't in stock, even if takes several days to get it, you are hosed. Plus there is a low limit on rental car daily rate. Again, read the fine print. |
