Thanks God, BMW is still providing 16" wheels.
There are at least two reasons:

1) Different people have different aesthetic preferences. For me wheels bigger then 18" are odd and ridiculous 16-18" are well. And 19" are really shitty even with F10.

2) Different countries have different road quality. Especially in winter.

BMW offers wheels of several dimensions, and it's good to have a choice )))

I am not sure which picture you are looking at, but I dont see it. If you think BMW is planning to put a huge front mount you are probably mistaken. I could see twin side mounts or even a smalllll lower front mount, but to me all I see is either an AC condenser or a radiator.

All of these points are, well, pointless IMO. Every single luxury sport sedan manufacturer offers their stock wheels in 17" - Mercedes, Audi, Lexus, Infiniti, etc...there is a HUGE aesthetic difference between 16" and 17". Besides, BMW offered the 328 with stock 17" wheels for the entire 2011 model year.
