I originally didn't want a moonroof, but couldn't live without some of the other things only available with the premium package, which included the moonroof. Now they're available without the premium package. Too late for me, but it's nice to see.

It's very good to hear that xenons are now a stand-alone option, but BMW needs to stop this nonsense immediately. They cannot keep changing things when the car is less than a year old.

I would be soooo pissed if I had purchased an F30 and had gotten the 3K premium package as an option just to get the xenons.

BMW has lumped options together on the 2013 X1 so that in order to be eligible to buy xenons and backup sensors, you're on the hook for a $4k premium package and a $2.5k nav package. Add the lights plus sensors and it's another $2k on top of that. So, the car with the low $30's base price becomes a $40k car. BMW should have learned from the F30 experience, but I suppose it will have to go through it again.

I never did understand why they were not prior to this.
Some people don't want them. They weaken the chassis (due to the removal of a structural brace that would have been there) and creak all day long. I ordered a 2012 328i without a sunroof and without folding seats on purpose because I use neither of these features and do not like the noise associated with the trim pieces around these items rattling and squeaking.

I agree. Some people purchased their 2012 F10 M5s, only to have new options and features be available a month after the delivery of their $100,000 flagship sedan. That simply does not seem right to me.

To my knowledge, the F30 and E90 (maybe even earlier) have no chassis differences for folding seats/non-folding seat models. This is further evidenced by the fact that all 2013 onward models have folding seats.

As for rattles, time will tell.

I know that it makes a significant difference on the E46, but you may be right because I could not find data on the E90 or F30 with and without folding seats.

BMW E46 Sedan (w/o folding seats): 18,000 Nm/deg
BMW E46 Sedan (w/folding seats): 13,000 Nm/deg
BMW E46 Convertible: 10,500 Nm/deg
BMW E90 Sedan: 22,500 Nm/deg
BMW F30 Sedan: 29,250 Nm/deg (estimate based on 30% stronger than E90)

I like the standard features and options for 2013 328i. The base price is $36,500 that is $1,600 more than 2012 328i. The 2013 standard includes:
Split fold-down-rear seat ($475)
Power front seats with drive seat memory ($995)
Universal garage-door opener
Auto-dimming interior and exterior mirrors
Auto-dimming rearview mirror.

For $130, we get garage-door opener and auto dimming mirrors and I think that is a good deal.

I also like the Dynamic Handling Package ($1,000) which is $200 less than 2012.

The best of all is the stand-alone Xenon Lighting Package. In 2012 if we want xenon headlight we are forced to order Premium Package which costs $3,600.

I am glad that I decided to wait. Here's what I have ordered
2013 328i
M-Sport Line
Estoril Blue II
Style 400 M with mixed performance summer tires
Highlight trim finishers pearl gloss chrome
Venetian Beige Dakota Leather
Driver Assistance Package
Dynamic Handling Package
Xenon Lighting Package
Heated front seats
Manual Transmission

Don't care too much about the comfort access

Had it in my 2009 128i, and it didn't work half the time (especially the times I really needed it to work i.e. grocery bag in hand etc).
The other problem was that one of the fob was washed in the washer as it was in my pocket. Lastly, I could never find my keys!!

With my 2006 E90, I never had that problem with the key fob.

i will be ordering the 2013 328i with sports and xenon soon as I finally solf my 128i!!

Couple of ?'s on the F30 335i 2013 options/standard features:

Sunroof is STD but is it possible to request sunfoof DELETE from BMWNA--via Individual?--or through BMW directly? I really don't want it and would never use it.

Is there an advantage to opting for the same size tires/rims w/ ZMM M-Sport Pkg vs having the standard staggered sizes?

The Hexagonal Aluminum dash--do we know if that comes STD w/ the Blue stripe vs the Black stripe? for M-Sport versions?

Can anybody tell/show me what the Headlight "finishers" look like in Estoril Blue/Gloss Black/Chrome pearl?--I see this is STD for M-Sport but u can choose the color

Thanks for any help. This will be my 1st new BMW--had a 76 2002 and this will be a big step up from my current GTI
