Bimmercode Error
Need some help. I coded my car, 1-2 small things first time and everything worked fine. I tried to code is again after few days and this time while writing data I got an error saying some of the data is faulty. After that message I saw the FCU is showing up as RED and also ECU was greyed out. I tried to restore it from the last backup but still got the same message.
What can I do, I am not getting any error on the car itself. I sent a message to bimmercode and they are telling me to restart the phone and take out and put back the adaptor again and then try to restore. I have not tried to restore from the original backup yet. Anybody else faced the problem while coding using bimmercode. I am now worried to try it out again.

Definitely restore every module back to factory settings and re-code after that. I've run into this in the past and restoring to the backup and retrying always seems to do the trick.

I had this when the connection between the phone and adapter wasn't stable.
Put phone in to airplane mode then switch on WiFi or Bluetooth whichever you are using and try again. |

What kind of adapter do you have? Wifi or Blutooth?

That might explain it. The wifi models seems to experience more errors because of the stability of the connection.

I use a WiFi adapter and have never had issues coding with Bimmercode. 🤷🏻*♂️

The Bimmercode developer seems to recommend BT adapters over their wifi counterparts for a reason. Go to his website and ye shall see. BT -I'm assuming- provides a more stable connection?

The adapter shouldn’t know the difference between one and the other. They are sending and receiving identical data over the same protocol. Last edited by les anderson; 01-10-2019 at 09:02 PM.. |

A phone can only have one Wi-Fi connection active at one time. If for some reason the phone decides to pick up your home Wi-Fi or a hotspot somewhere nearby, it will drop your OBD connection in an instant and possibly during a sensitive code write. A phone can have many simultaneous BT connections. And since you are sitting in the car 2 feet away from the OBD adaptor, range is never an issue. So the connection is less likely to drop during a sensitive code write. So being near your BT watch and headphones won't matter there.
