Replacing Stock 397 18” wheels on 2020 440i, does offset even matter?

I would like to swap out the stock 397 18” rims with the “Antler” OEM wheels, and am seeing the OEM wheels come in either 30 or 40 offset. Does it matter which one I get, and if I get either, will I have to add washers or something to the bolts for a proper fit, or will I be ok just screwing it in?

You should research and make sure the offsets are within a few MM. If the new wheels are a higher numerical offset they will "tuck" more into the wheel well. If so, you will need to buy spacers with new (longer) wheel bolts. You cannot use washers to make the wheel stick out more. That would be extremely unsafe.
