F32 Boot / Trunk Question

I just traded my 2016 plate 430D for a late 2019 plate 440i and just noticed something and not sure if I have a fault.

When popping the boot/trunk on the 430 with the key it opened all the way but the new 440 it just unlatched.

Can anybody confirm if that's a change for the 2019 car?

No, it should open all the way up. Go and tell your dealer of the problem and it should be sorted under warranty. It's a fairly common problem.

My convertible trunk doesn’t open all the way. I’m glad it doesn’t.

My 2020 F32 440 trunk-lid opens all the way no matter how I open it.

I know I can set the opening height of my trunk in my F36. Could it be that?

Elvisfan, the F33 doesn't have auto opening like that. Nor the kick under to unlock either.

Update - dealer says on the 440 coupe the trunk/boot just unlatched and doesn't open all the way in key press.

Thinking about it I prefer it just unlatched - prevent it getting caught by the wind.

It's a UK model - maybe different in different locations.

Strange the 430 coupe fully opened - can't see why a 430 and 440 coupes would differ.

I noticed the same when I went from a 2016 420i to a 2019 440i.

If you want to you can change it by adjusting the springs in the boot.
Where they attach at the rear they are on plates with multiple "tracks". You can move the spring to a different track which gives it more tension.
The drivers side is easy as it can be got at through the battery access, but the passenger side takes a bit more dismantling of the trim to get to.

I prefer it just unlatched rather than springing open - just wanted to make sure it wasn't a fault.

Not that it's open much.
