Guys, please be aware I've had my new car around 4 weeks now and can still track and connect to my old car.

The guy from BCA picked it up and it is now parked at an auction yard (I assume) in Lutterworth.

I would suggest anyone who purchases a used BMW contact BMW to set up the account and ensure the previous one is closed.

Mine too when it was parked at Bruntingthorpe for three weeks but as soon as it was sold on it was removed. Not much of a risk though IMO

Yeah its not just BMW. When I sold my last Macan, it was sat on the dealers forecourt for a couple of months and I got alerts when it went out for a test drive!!

You could freak out the new owner by doing stuff to the car

Funny, but I wouldn't like it to be done to me! ha

That's exactly what I was thinking, however as the car is no longer mine I won't attempt to open it.

I imagine if we did start doing stuff like flashing the lights we would start to see posts pop up saying the following:

"Title: Headlights Randomly Flashing"

"Guys have any of you experienced headlights flashing at random when you haven't pressed the key???? I never had these problems with my Vauxhall!! Anyway got it booked into the main stealers tomorrow for them to investigate."

I've still got the X3 demo car on mine looks like it's in Southwest London now!

Does anyone know how you remove anyone that added your car to their connected drive?

Tim, I will get my wife to download the ConnectedDrive app later and see if two people can run the app at once. If it doesn't work then we have your answer.

Good point, she will need to set up her own cd account to test this properly though.

You can only add the car to connected drive after getting a confirmation code via the car's idrive itself.

I assume that as soon as someone else adds it, it will remove the other account. I'm guessing that bit though.

Can't understand why you guys haven't removed it yourself when you traded the car in though

Standard procedure for me when trading in is to wipe all personal data and remove from Connected Drive. Just me then?

Bet the dealership would be chuffed to know you were tracking their car. Even better that you were putting the address it's parked at on a public forum........

Why would knowledge of where it's parked make any difference to anything?

I just feel it's a bit of bad form to be a) tracking a car you no longer own/have never owned that you can simply remove from your account with one swipe and b) posting the details of its location on a forum.

Maybe it's just me but it doesn't sit right.

I took my old cars off, being a good citizen.

My 335d still has the home address and all recent destinations of its previous owner though!

Is there a quick 'restore factory settings' option somewhere in iDrive like there is on an iPhone or other such device?

Flash the lights for a laugh. It might spook them. Then ventilate it another day. Once you have had your fun let BMW know to remove it and see if they are willing to refund any unused subscription.

Yes there is mate. I think it's in the profiles menu at the bottom under data privacy but happy to be corrected on the option location.

I still have my old 320 on connected drive, though it was the older model and means I can’t track it unless I’m practically beside it
