To those with the M Performance Front Lip...

Or any front lip for that matter...

How do you guys live with it? Is your BMW not your daily? I have it on my car and I find it really inconvenient. It has significantly reduced my clearance and although I'm getting better at not scratching it, it inevitably gets scrapes. Going extremely slow and angled and everything, it's just worrisome and inconvenient. Especially since I had a fiasco before where I had it fall off on me ON the freeway (yes it was bolted on, cause unknown), got it replaced with a new one yet I'm still worried over time it might fall off again if it takes too much damage/stress.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE the look it adds to the car but I'm starting to stress over it too much.

And if I decide I don't want it, anyone want to buy F32 Autotecknic Front Lip? Price half off...

I dont feel like having that mutch of clearance problems. What suspension are you on? I have lowered my car 30/30mm. ofc, I have to be a bit more careful, but not that mutch it bothers me.

I've had the M Performance lip on my car for almost 15000 miles and though clearance has been reduced a bit, it hasn't affected any of my daily driving. Every now and then I'll come across a driveway that requires me to angle the car, but without much issue. The only thing that really used to worry me was the parking curbs, but parking in reverse has eliminated that issue. The few times that I do pull forward I use the bottom of my mirrors looking toward the curb to line up where I need to stop the car. No worries! As for the lip falling off, you should put some beta link on it to keep it secure.

No problems at all....even plowed a little snow with it. Soon as spring comes the coils are going on

Well I have it on my GC (love the look of it with the Mineral Gray- looks like it was made for it) and the extra .5" height of the GC helps- but I do scrape it a lot but its the underside- I also have Xpel clear film to protect it.

Same here, no issues at all. Have around 3000 km (2000ish miles) and drive it in snow and everything.

DD for me and only a few minor scraps. Same with the low pro tires which every one told me I was going to have SUCH a problem with. and the lowered suspension. Only proves to me what I always suspected, when push comes to shove, most people really do not know how to drive. Yes I am careful, but I own this car so I am going to treat it right - whether I keep it for 10 years like the last one or trade up for an M3 when he competition package becomes available. YMMV.

Glad to see there are not too many others that have issues with the M performance lip. I have been thinking about pulling the trigger on one. I second the Xpel. That stuff works great! Have it on the front bumper

I pretty much did the entire car less the doors and the roof- first thing to add to ANY new car IMO- that stuff is excellent.

Glad to see no one is having issues, makes me feel a little better. I see most of you are 3 owners rather than 4. If I'm not mistaken, the 4 sits a little lower than the 3? I'm on stock suspension, no X-drive like jjc4scab or GC like Ze3eMCe, I wonder if that makes any difference in the clearance. I'll probably go out and measure it, but there's no going up driveways, even shallow ones, without a big angle and really slow speed to avoid scratching it. Speed bumps no problem but dips and driveways are the worst. Should I just let go of the fact it'll take a beating?

Yes the 4 (F32) is lower than F30 AND it is lower than the GC (F36) You will have to be careful but it makes the car look SOOOO much better IMO- just be careful- know you will scrape it a time or three and you will love it.

I definitely agree that it makes the car look a lot better. I actually remember seeing your car in a thread and thought wow that looks amazing and told myself I needed the lip.

Just curious how much lower the F32 is than the F36?

Yes very annoying especially going to one of those crazy-steep mall parking basement. Aways scrapping the lip. But, it does look awesome! So, I don't mind at all. I use the car daily.

Me too! Are you getting the coil overs? I plan to get the comfort version of the PSS10. Dinan tune once it gets street legal here in SoCal.

No, I meant same here for the plowing.
I'm installing Dinan springs + bumpstops, and replacing the OE shocks with Bilstein B8 Sport.

I accidentally rolled into a concrete barrier the first week i got the car, and it cracked the right side of the lip, so its been drooping ever since. I knew I was going to replace it eventually, but wasn't looking forward to the $200-$300 i would have to spend replacing it. i'm dropped like 2.5"-3" but surprisingly i don't get too many scrapes (only driveways with wicked dips and larger than normal speed bumps). The lip is 2.5" off the ground.

Since then, the price on these things have gotten down to $100 (a little more for exact OEM shape, look, and fitment, but not much more than that). Mine just arrived last night and i'll be installing it this weekend.

I almost look at it as being a disposable part now

But like Bryan said, its too good looking to not have it on... just take it out of your BMW maintenance fund
