Brake light leds
While swapping my rear turn signals today I noticed the brake light is the same bulb. Would love to swap these for LED but I just can't find any threads in here stating people have done it. I definitely don't want to do it if it's unsafe. Have you done this mod?

335i LED conversion, everything is now LED. Search for it and you'd find it. . You're lucky tho, my 4 series has different lights for the rear with no led's to be made except for the turn signals.

Not true. I just converted my rear turn signal and brake light to LED. Check out Horizon LED in UK. My build thread in my sig has a link to this mod.

I don't know about their products, I've bought turn signals from Bimmian and I am in love with them, I'm afraid to buy something and not get what I expected out of them, specially with the bimmian description claiming they've tried out the rest and nothing beats theirs (Don't know if it's true, but placibo is in full swing in my head haha)

I have the Horizons in my back seat. Still waiting to hear back on the backup lights so I can throw them all on at once. If Zain doesn't get something soon I may just buy the Weisslicht. After shipping and the currency conversion, they're only like $15 more.

Yeah I am not holding my breathe on the backup lights. I.will be changing out my 25w LED Brake lights for 50w. I.find the 25w is not quite as bright as the stock bulbs. Zain said he can get them for me.

Thats not good. My lights are getting tinted. If they aren't bright enough for stock, they're gonna be very dim after that.

For the turn signals they are P21W's, that's what I am sure of. I'm not sure if anything else differs according to region, but here are the ones for my European spec 435i.

I am going to my car in like 5 minutes, I'll take a pic of it. You can find it in your onboard owner's manual (if the car is near you) however I will post them both ways

As for wattage you will be fine. Remember these are LEDs so they are very efficient so heat is not an issue.

Watts is Watts is Watts, regardless of Halogen or LED. A 16W LED is ample for brake lights. Halogen brake lights are 21W. If you go for more than 21W, you will be pulling more current than the loom was designed for. Heat IS an issue with LEDs, they need heatsinking otherwise they die. It's for this reason the bulbs are made of Aluminium. |
